I've only read a few pages but I kinda don't like what I've read so far. I think Vince Neil is the hottest man to ever walk the planet and I love Motley Crue. I listen to their music every time I get in my car. I just don't know why the book has to start off with a gross story. I hope the rest of the book doesn't de-idolize him in my opinion. I'm also reading The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx.

Update: I've read a lot more of the book and I really like it. It's very interesting to hear from Vince himself and also the sections where his family members talk about their view of Vince growing up and getting started. I still have a lot left to read and I am enjoying it.

I was very excited to order this book! I had previously read "The Dirt", "TommyLand" and "The Heroin Diaries" by Nikki Sixx. So I couldn't wait to read "Tattoos and Tequila". However, once I began to read this autobiography, I realized that Vince Neil is pretentious and self-absorbed. In addition to that, he has a negative personality and complained about awful life is and bashed his old bandmates as often as he could. The other autobiographies by the bandmates put Vince in a someone decent light, and were, for the most part....human. I found that Vince did nothing but complain and literally spoke about himself NON-STOP. It literally took me only a few days to read the other books, whereas this book has taken me weeks. There's nothing worse than listening to some spoiled brat complain about how he "never had his way". I'm a nurse in the ER and trauma room.....I can go to work and get paid to listen to others bitch. I found this book to be far from entertaining. Shame on Vince Neil. In addition to that, I'm surprised he doesn't have an incurable STD. As for the packaging, it arrived undamaged. The book took some time to be delivered.....I understood it was being shipped in used condition from Europe, so that is understandable and not worth bitching about.

Most bands have 1 good song in them, some 1 good album.
The Crüe made it to 5 great albums, the rest of them being not quite what they could have been if things hadn't collapsed after [I]Dr. Feelgood[/I].
It's unfortunate that there is - or was- quite a bit of bad blood between the guys, but Vince doesn't dwell on that as much as he could have in this book.
Nothing too terribly new for those who've read [I]The Dirt[/I], but still worthwhile for Crüe fans.

Been a Crue fan since the 1980s. Enjoyed The Dirt band biography. Was looking forward to Vince Neil's side of the story. But this shockingly badly written piece of garbage was a huge let down. The ghost writer seems to have just recorded Vince and a few others - like his friends, family, and ex-band mates - talking, then sent it to a typist and had them type it up. And that's it - that's this book!! It reads like a series of overly long interviews. No descriptive narrative whatsoever, nothing to set the tone or immerse the reader in a time and place. All we get is just literally Vince and Co dialoguing in a very tedious verbatim Californian surfer patois, spouting things like: "yeah, I'm like, gonna say, like it was maybe, 1980 and like, I kinda like, remember, like my car was in, I think like, the shop or something, for like repairs and stuff". Pages of this. Pages and pages of it. Having read dozens of rock and metal biographies and autobiographies of varying quality over the last few decades, I can honestly say this is the worst written one of them all. Complete rubbish. Such a shame that what could have been a really fun and interesting read was ruined by garbage writing and a terrible writing style. Avoid. Do Not Buy. Ever.

Kinda like The Dirt Part 2, only with none of Nikki's soul-searching or Tommy's cheeky chappy charm. Vince is all about the partying and much of this book focuses on his boozing, doping and whoring about LA's notorious Sunset Strip. The chapters on the Motley House are very enjoyable, focusing on the band as they're cutting their teeth at clubs like the Troubador and Whiskey. But later chapters, dealing with Vince's solo career and his vices spinning out of control left me a little cold, to be honest.

Overall, a recommend - especially for anyone who's enjoyed The Dirt or Nikki's Heroin Diaries - but, for me, not just as satisfying as those books.

I found tattoos and tequila lacking in the sex and drugs but plentiful in the rock n roll, too much time dedicated to the business side and too little to the personal side, except to whine about failed marriages
