Takashi Usami (宇佐美 貴史, Usami Takashi, born May 6, 1992) is a Japanese football player. He played for the Japan national team.

Biography[change | change source]

Usami was born in Nagaokakyo on May 6, 1992. He joined J1 League club Gamba Osaka in 2009. He played many matches from the 2010 season and was selected "J.League Rookie of the Year award". In July 2011, he moved to German Bundesliga club Bayern Munich on loan. However there were few opportunities to play. In summer 2011, he moved to Hoffenheim on loan. In June 2013, he returned to Gamba in J2 League. He scored 19 goals in 18 matches and Gamba was promoted to J1 end of the 2013 season. In 2014, Gamba won all three major title in Japan; J1 League, J.League Cup and Emperor's Cup. He was also selected Best Eleven in 2014 and 2015. In July 2016, he moved to Germany again and joined Bundesliga club Augsburg. In 2018, he moved to 2. Bundesliga club Fortuna Düsseldorf. Düsseldorf was promoted to Bundesliga end of the 2017/18 season. In June 2019, he returned to Gamba.

In October 2009, Usami was selected the Japan U-17 national team for 2009 U-17 World Cup and played all 3 matches. In July 2012, he was selected the Japan U-23 national team for 2012 Summer Olympics. He played 4 matches and Japan won the 4th place. On March 27, 2015, he debuted for the Japan national team against Tunisia. In 2018, he was selected the Japan for 2018 World Cup. He played 2 matches and Japan qualified to the knockout stage. He played 27 games and scored 3 goals for Japan until 2019.
