If T-Rex and Tricertops are rivals, and possibly compared to cats and dogs, who would be which and why?

We all know the rivalry between T-Rex and Triceratops, and this needs no introduction. They lived during the same time, and thus, were predator and prey respectively.

However, when it comes to their dynamic compared to real life animals, would they be compared to cats and dogs in terms of the rivaling aspect, or possibly another species like lions and rhinos possibly?

Just a thought, relatively speaking of course.

Peace.

Dogs and cats don’t share a predator + prey relationship. there really isn’t any modern analogue that would accurately parallel their relationship imo. I would say the closest we’d have today would be Grizzly Bears + Moose

Maybe you could toss in chimps and colobus monkeys? Or wolves and caribou?

Stupid question, cats and dogs eat meat.

T-rex would be cat: because cats generally have more meat in their diet, and because Feline predators ended up being more successful than their canine rivals.

Pong 1977 mentioned. I've watched his videos when I was little

Domestic dogs and cats aren't really natural enemies. That's a bit of a cultural misconception based on unruly/feral dogs chasing small animals, including cats. Dogs are not specifically evolved/bred to hunt cats. A lot of other larger carnivores also opportunistically prey on cats, including other canids like coyotes and foxes, raccoons, birds of prey, tasmanian devils, large snakes, even larger felids like cougars. T.rex and Triceratops exhibit a true predator/prey relationship more akin to, say, lions and cape buffalo, wolves and bison, tigers and sloth bears (or tigers and gaur), cheetah and gazelle, or stoats/foxes and rabbits.

Somewhat related, where is the pic from? That Rex design is really cool and it looks like something I need to know

It’s from Dinosaur Battle World Championship Season 1, a web series on YouTube where dinosaurs of different species fight each other to the death, and move to the next round after winning. In particular, this is the T-Rex vs Triceratops battle, one of the two semi-finals, alongside Spinosaurus vs Giganotosaurus

It’s currently in its second season.

Season one had 32 dinosaurs, with season 2 having the same amount

I'd say the rivalry between Loins and Cape Buffalo have much more in common with rex and trike rather than dogs and cats
