The Swiss Hotel has an old school charm that is a rare find. Sitting outside on their front patio and enjoying a nice cold (and very reasonably priced) bottle of local Sauvignon Blanc on a hot Summer day is pure bliss. Couple that with the fact the service is amazing. Really friendly and helpful. We were last Tuesday (June 22) and our petit blond server was the best. She seemed to know all the locals who loved her and we can understand why. We live in Napa but enjoy a day trip to Sonoma and this is our favorite drink spot. Next time we will try dinner too!

We were looking for a place to have an after dinner drink and dessert for my husband’s birthday. We just stumbled upon this darling hotel in Sonoma. During COVID-19 restrictions we had a safe and delightful experience outside watching the passerbys sipping on the most delicious drinks ever! They have a specialty drink with a long history of ingredient secrecy called Gliseppe. The vanilla ice cream we had was seriously some of the best I’ve ever tasted. I can’t wait to return when indoor dining is back.

I came to visit family this week. Went to Sonoma and walked around. We happened to find this place and decided to have brunch. We have 3 little kids and wondered how we could go through the entrance with a stroller. The waitress gracefully suggested to enter from the back and got the stroller. The other waitresses made having brunch easy with 3 squirmy kids. Great Margarita pizza. We ordered Shirley Temples for drinks but the kids were looking for cherries 🍒 in their drinks but there weren't any. We asked another waitress who obliged to bring some cherries in a little bowl. It made the kids' day and it was an extra special gesture for the kids.

I’ve been to Swiss Hotel a few times and each time always efficient friendly service. Always excellent food. Yesterday we ate their for Mother’s Day. I had ravioli which was so very tasty; and it was topped with walnuts and little pieces of baked apple… so delicious. Side dish brussel sprouts cooked to perfection with bits of bacon. Yum!! And Cesar salad delicious too.
Love their front patio seating (first come first serve). They also have indoor seating; and their back patio seating is nice too.
Tip: We sat at the one little round table situated in the spacious reception area adjacent to the bar. It’s a window view table and faces the front so it’s perfect for people watching and it felt like our own special table. Had a fabulous Mother’s Day at Swiss Hotel.

My husband and I went with a friend to the Swiss Hotel. We have been before, and have raved about this hotel to our friends. It is a quaint hotel on the main square of Sonoma. The hotel has only 5 rooms. The owners and all of the staff are great. We have always found them to be attentive and helpful to us. Being on the square is convenient for walking around visiting shops, restaurants, and wine tasting rooms. They also have a special drink called the Glarifee. Only the owner knows the recipe. You can sit outside at the tables and watch all the action at the square or dine in the restaurant. We will be returning to this hotel on our next trip to Sonoma.

The Swiss Hotel in sits right on the Sonoma Plaza. I love sitting on the patio, the people watching is fantastic! The food is great, but the servers are even better. This is a comfortable space with a welcoming atmosphere. Great Caesar salads, too!

What a choice after walking around in the cold, rainy weather. We didn't have a reservation (recommended), but were seated rather quickly. Our server, Sharon Kay, was excellent. I had the Seafood Pappardelle, my girlfriend had the Eggplant Parm over palenta. Both were fantastic and delicious! Price and service were great. I highly recommend the Swiss Hotel if you are in Sonoma.

Horrible in every way. Everything you can think of for a horrible hotel experience is reality at the swiss. I'll save you the time of reading but literally every aspect that a person would expect in a decent hotel/B&B is the bottom of the barrel here right down to the surly front desk woman (2 young girls were pleasant). Stay only as last resort and don't expect to sleep as the noise from the bar feels like it's at the foot of your bed as well as deliveries that start at 4 in the morning and last about 1.5 hours. For the money (almost $250 per) I should have slept in my rental car. Sonoma is great but avoid this relic and it's pretentious front desk employee (trust me, anyone who has been there knows who I'm talking about) and stay somewhere else. Cheers.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times and have had varying experiences from ok to excellent. The last stay was excellent. We rented the largest room in the hotel and it is absolutely fantastic. It is very spacious with a huge comfortable bed and it has a door that you leads out to a large balcony in front of the hotel. We held a private party in the restaurant and had a large bulk of our party join us for hors d' oeurves and drinks on the balcony before the dinner. To top it off their rates are reasonable and the location couldn't be any better. It is located right on the square. Stay away from some of the smaller rooms. While okay they are a little cramped and strange. The floor was at a dramatic slant in one of the rooms we stayed in. I guess that goes along with an old building!

Swiss Hotel is on the main plaza of Sonoma, above a great bar, restaurant and street side terrace. The glass doors into the lobby (that's also part of the bar) next to the flight of stairs up to the rooms tells you all you need to know. It's cozy, dotted with wonderful historic photos of San Francisco and surroundings from way back, and reminds one of a time before every room had to have some sort of luxury. Yes, it's a tad noisy and breakfast isn't fancy but it's free and they'll happily make you an espresso if you ask. I hope they don't tart it up too much.
