      Critics Consensus

Super Pumped has energy to spare, but Joseph Gordon-Levitt's committed turn as an unpleasant tech honcho will leave many viewers feeling stuck in a particularly uncomfortable rideshare.

Amanda Whiting Independent (UK) Low-calorie entertainment of the highest order, as flashy and empty as Travis’s self-serving rallying cry. Rated: 3/5 Jun 22, 2022 Full Review Wenlei Ma News.com.au While it is all wildly entertaining as the series jolts from one scandal to another, what’s missing is some of the deeper work that would’ve elevated Super Pumped from good to great. May 20, 2022 Full Review Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) Super Pumped is full of big characters, but it has enough insights to make the storytelling incisive. It’s wise to Kalanick’s ways: watch how it recreates his lies as he spun them, before showing the callous, mundane reality. Rated: 3.5/5 May 19, 2022 Full Review Ilan Preskovsky Channel24 (South Africa) And while the series never convinces in presenting Kalanick as either charming or decent, it's on much surer footing when it dives into Kalanick's awfulness while at the same time showing glimpses of the humanity behind the narcissistic monster. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 6, 2023 Full Review Leigh Paatsch Herald Sun (Australia) At times, the whole tale veers dangerously close to becoming Silicon Valley’s own Wolf of Wall Street. Highly recommended. Rated: 4.5/5 Jun 2, 2022 Full Review Christopher James The Film Experience iSuper-Pumpedi is both too-much and not-enough of anything. Joseph Gordon Levitt has terrific fun reveling in Uber CEO Travis Kalanicks bad behavior. Theres just nothing beyond the surface. Rated: D Mar 30, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Michael W This miniseries about the transportation tech company Uber was really good. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kyle Chandler, Uma Thurman, Babak Tafti, Kerry Bishe, Jon Bass, Annie Chang, Elizabeth Shue, and the rest of the cast did a great job on this miniseries. This true story about the founder and CEO of Uber, Travis Kalanick, was dramatic, tense, and shocking. It's about a man with a major ego problem, obsessed with power and winning, that he'll do anything to get what he wants. If you haven't seen this miniseries yet, check it out sometime. It's a must see. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/30/23 Full Review Scott F The meeting with Google and Larry Page was a classic. Larry page sits down without saying hello and stares silently. Then he asks "must have been hard to come up with that mapping algorithim" and the Uber founder says "it was freeware", then goes into a long dialog about how good google maps is. Larry looks at him and says "you don't code do you?". To which the Uber founder gives a long, rambling answer that basically means "no". Larry gets up and leaves without saying a word. That exchange says so much about the valley, about the struggle of the engineers vs. the supersalesmen who often take over. Priceless. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/21/23 Full Review David N This was a caricature of an obviously really smart guy who built an amazing company that saved thousands of people from dying because of drunk drivers. we know about the flaws, but the creator's personal animus towards the inspiration for the main character prevented them from demonstrating one moment of his business acumen. Every 10 seconds of every single scene with the main character in it, they remind you that he is pure evil. They even call him Hitler. It became so comically absurd that I found myself saying "OK we get it, you really really hate this guy." Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/04/23 Full Review Michael F Terrific. Great story. Vivid insight. Full of drama and excellent performances by a multi-star cast. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/14/23 Full Review dtag0001 Insightful story, but a caricature of a few rolls. Of course Hollywood wokeness permeated this. Grabbing that straws and no real story on the abuse of women in the workplace, they could have done more research and had a real story there. And misquoting the woke media as a guiding light for the future. They do have to sensationalize it but now I'll go back to sleep. Tired of Hollywood woke. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/10/23 Full Review Amanda K This is a MUST for anyone who uses Uber!! Great actors plus Quentin Tarantino is the narrator! Very clever series.
