The Heroic Enthusiasts shares two new remixes of Lesley Gore’s iconic hit You Don’t Own Me distributed by ECR Music Group. This release follows a notable revival in Gore’s popularity, underscored by her song’s recent ascension to #1 on Billboard’s TikTok chart — a milestone she hasn’t reached since 1963 — and its feature in an international Calvin Klein ad starring Jeremy Allen White.
In November 2023, ECR Music Group launched a deluxe edition of Gore’s last album, expertly restored, remixed, and remastered by the album’s original producer and the founder of ECR, Blake Morgan. This release has sparked a renewed global interest in Gore’s musical heritage.
The electronic duo, The Heroic Enthusiasts, have taken on the task of reinterpreting Gore’s 2005 rendition of You Don’t Own Me. Members James Tabbi and Thomas Ferrara have crafted an exuberant anthem and a classy, Bond-like version, both highlighting Gore’s influential voice and the enduring message of independence and freedom.
Remembered as a prominent figure of the 1960s “Girl Group” movement, Lesley Gore made a name for herself with hits like It’s My Party and You Don’t Own Me, produced by Quincy Jones. Her album Ever Since, produced by Blake Morgan, blends timeless classics with new material, showcasing Gore’s distinctive talent.
