He will become the nation’s youngest First Minister, and will replace Nicola Sturgeon

Humza Yousaf is set to become the first person of colour and the first Muslim to serve as Scotland’s First Minister.

He will also become the nation’s youngest First Minister now that he’s been elected as the next leader of the Scottish National Party.

He describes himself as “a proud Scot, and equally a proud European too”.

The current health minister beat two other Scottish lawmakers, in a contest to replace First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

She unexpectedly stepped down last month after eight years as leader of the party.

Yousaf is still yet to be confirmed as First Minister by Scottish lawmakers, but is already facing challenges.

He must unite the SNP and re-energise its campaign for Scottish independence from the United Kingdom.

Yousaf told reporters “we will go on to finish the job” that was left by Sturgeon.

This partnership aims to change the approach to tackling both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, as well as addressing the issue of Pre-Diabetes.
