Comedy and wit is off the charts

Years ago, I began watching the first season of "Suits." While it was somewhat clever & entertaining, I was over it by the end of the season & did not go on to watch any additional seasons. Recently, after running out of things to watch, I decided to give "Suits" another chance. Boy, am I glad I did! Like many shows, this one takes a couple of seasons for the actors to grow into their characters & to begin feeling comfortable/natural portraying those characters as actual people we can relate to. Also, the writing needed to develop over time. By the middle of the second season, I was hooked. Now my opinion of this show is, "It's brilliant!!!" This isn't just another nighttime soap opera, although there is plenty of that going on. But there is just enough relationship drama to give the show some human/emotional twist without turning every episode into heavy focus on sexual relationships. This gets old really fast, in my opinion. This show offers so much more: There's the constant tension created by Mike's situation & the potential of it becoming exposed at any minute--imagine the ramifications for the law firm, if that ever happens! There are interesting legal cases, & it's great fun watching Harvey & Mike come out on top. And then there's Louis Litt. The writers & creators of this show were brilliant by including his character, right from the beginning. Otherwise the show might run the risk of becoming just another legal drama with a bunch of extremely non-believable good-looking lawyers, sleeping with each other & winning unbelievable cases. Louis is sometimes the guy you love to hate; sometimes he's the guy you feel sorry for; & other times he's the guy you want to strangle, the way he makes everything, good or bad, all about HIM. I think this show will go down as an all-time classic. I certainly intend to watch the entire series over again someday.

I have enjoyed Season 1 and 2. I will say, though, that if you take a day off and sit and watch every episode until you are nearly done with that particular season, I do think that "reality" continues to creep into your mind about how "real" this fictional situation is and if it were true in the real world, how long the silly scheme of keeping the secret (and breaking the law big time for that hush-hush), would really last?
I initially thought the premise of this show was great and definitely original. I love the characters and the story lines. I have even come to like the nut of the firm, Louis Litt, ... but, you've still got to ask yourself ... if this situation were actually taking place in a law firm today, ... how much longer could you continue to dodge the bullet ... especially since with each episode more and more people are finding out the truth about Mike Ross' fake title and conduct as an attorney in a high-ranking legal firm in beautiful Manhattan, New York.
You do wonder how many more seasons can Ross remain in his capacity and the show still stay believable ... so, just don't sit back and watch Season 2 in one of your days off ... or you might hear your inner voice start to say 'come on, how phony can this show get; he's not finally busted yet?'
When the two lead characters are also Co-producers of the show, another reason why Ross gets cleared before each ending of each episode, and this could last another three or four more seasons, for the most die-hard of fans.
Bottom line: yes, I enjoyed their Season 2 shows, despite my deep-simmering realism inside.

If you haven't seen this show, start with Season 1. No summary could possibly bring you up to speed or help you to appreciate the character development better. That being said, this season rachets up the tension at the firm with the return of an off-screen character at the firm making his appearance (David Constable plays the guy you love to hate) and shaking things up. The romance between certain characters is stronger and the interplay between the main characters Mike (Patrick J Adams) and Harvey (Gabriel Macht) is at its finest.
I'm not one to spoil things, but here's a few items to note. When I first started watching this show, I couldn't have imagined that a legal drama that barely ever sees the inside of a courtroom, would be so exciting and interesting. In fact, it's one of my favorite shows because the dialogue is so well written and even supporting characters are fleshed out. This is also probably the best show or part for Gina Torres (as Jessica) and Rick Hoffman (as Louis Litt). They play their parts so well that you can sway from liking them one week to hating them the next. They are such fully developed characters that the show would be lost without them.
That being said, Gabriel Macht has been the break-out actor of the show and makes you feel like your watching a younger Al Pacino meets Michael Douglas. His mentoring and big brother role to Patrick J Adams's character is a wonderful complement to his bravado and egotistically nature as a lawyer. He's like an anti-hero at times and then he reminds you that he has a hidden compassion the next.
This show is a pleasure to watch and I eagerly await season 3.

Grossi miglioramenti rispetto alla prima stagione.
Reviewed in Italy on October 17, 2014

Reviewed in Germany on July 7, 2014
