The taqueria used to be called Zona Rosa, which dated back to at least 1990. Ramiro Cardenas and his family rebranded in 2019 and changed the name to Mi Familia. It should be noted that after rebranding, the restaurant received 17 health code violations.

Shortly after, a Blue Barn sign went up in the window at Padrecito signifying that the locally based chain serving salads and sandwiches would soon take over, though an opening date has not yet been announced.
For now, residents and tourists exploring Haight Street can still walk into Mi Familia for the next 23 days to satisfy their burrito craving.
