Meet Stuart

Stuart is a collaborative pianist and piano technician based in Moscow, Idaho. In addition to music, he also has diverse interests in philosophy, psychology, and spirituality. Stuart enjoys collecting books, watching the stars, and playing with his cats.

He has a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance (2018) and Master of Music in Collaborative Piano (2021), both from the University of Idaho. Previous instructors include Eneida Larti, Yoon-Wha Roh, Roger McVey, Rajung Yang, and Sandra Mauchley.

With a passion for collaborating, Stuart has accompanied fellow musicians, churches, choirs, and theaters, both at the UI and around the local community. Through the Lionel Hampton School of Music, Stuart has performed in convocations, premiered student compositions, played for masterclasses, studied organ, and accompanied choirs along with individual singers and instrumentalists. In 2018 he played keyboards for the Bigfork Summer Playhouse and in 2019 music directed for a show with the UI Theatre Arts Department. This past year at LHSOM, he accompanied eleven student recitals and forty juries.

After apprenticing under Jon Anderson in the trade of piano technology, Stuart opened his tuning business in 2021. From Riggins and Kooskia to Coeur d'Alene and Spokane, he travels all over the region servicing 400+ pianos in homes, churches, and schools. Clients include the University of Idaho, Washington State University, Lewis-Clark State College, and New Saint Andrew’s College. Additionally, Stuart assists Clint Hughes at Grand American Piano, where he tunes, voices, regulates, and works on rebuilding jobs. He is a member of the Piano Technician’s Guild, is involved with the Inland Northwest local chapter, and plans this year to pursue certification to become a registered piano technician (RPT).
