This is Adam Ant's Tonight: a too-quick follow-up to a mega seller, with two good singles amid a lot of unmemorable filler, and the singles aren't even that good. Bonus similarities: reusing old material (who's a goofy Libertine then?), tossing in a sop to fans of the "old" sound (Navel to Neck), and burying the best song at B2 while dreck occupies space on the A-side.
On the bright side, at least Adam doesn't embarrass himself covering an oldie. No, he'd already tackled that inevitability on the previous album.

At least on the last one you could halfway believe that they were the same Adam and Marco who were in Adam and the Ants, but man it's tough to do that with this. They go some unexpected places here musically. I want to write a scathing review but truth told, much of the music isn't bad - but it isn't necessarily what i have in mind when i want to listen to Adam Ant either. But at least he isn't resting on his laurels and rewriting the same stuff over and over like so many of his contemporaries. The lyrics kill any thoughts that he's matured, of course - this is largely grade school shit. All told there's really some decent material here, but at the same time i don't really give a shit if i ever hear any of it again.
highs - Libertine, Spanish Games, Vanity, Puss 'n' Boots, Montreal
lows - Baby Let Me Scream at You, Navel to Neck
like this, go for: Duran Duran when they lost their way
not in my collection

When I originally purchased this on vinyl upon it's release I have to say I was a bit a disappointed. I thought Adam Ant was trying to hard at a commercial release for Top 40 hits. After many years I now realize that this album has held up much better than his other albums. "Strip" does not contain Adam Ants best songs but the songs included hold up a lot better than other Adam Ant songs.

An album full of deliciously fun 80s new wave pop that's catchy and amusing throughout. The sexual innuendo is a riot. If you hate this, you probably take music - and yourself - way too seriously.

Great fun with a 'Puss 'N Boots' as a leading track & funny video clip. Other highlights include 'Vanity', 'Spanish Games' & my favorite one 'Playboy'.

Some of these songs are a lot of fun but speaking from a guys point of view, you sure feel silly listening to it.

I have to say that while there isn't much musical quality here, _Strip_ is great fun. That's because Adam Ant sings about one topic only-sex. There is something about a man with an English accent singing sexual innuendo.
Examples include:
"My only books were women's looks. And the more I read, the less I said."-"Libertine"
"She says she likes the accent. She thinks it's so polite. I think she's gonna like it more when we're alone tonight."-"Vanity"
"What do you wear in bed? Some headphones on my head. What do you like to hold. My breath she said."-"Playboy"
"Could this be a dirty night? It could if they're doing it right."-"Montreal"
The musical style is pure 80's pop. The lyrics clearly aren't poetry, but for a light listen or a laugh while stuck in traffic it works. An interesting note and the musical highlight of the album is Phil Collins on "Puss'N Boots".
