The Haunting

Burn Brae Mansion was built in 1908 by Margaret MacKenzie Elkin as part of the estate of George Ross MacKenzie, third president of the Singer Sewing Machine company, who made his fortune as confidant and advisor to Isaac Merritt Singer, the company's founder. Click here to read the history of the mansion.

Rich in history, Burn Brae Mansion was recently restored for its 100-year anniversary.

Following the renovations, the original servants' quarters, now named the Singer Suite and Elkin Room, and the adjoining guest rooms, now named the MacKenzie Suite, were opened to the public. Shortly after reopening, overnight guests began reporting mysterious sights and sounds during their visit. Further research revealed a history of such reports, and subsequently spurred curiosity about the previous occupants of Burn Brae.

Burn Brae Mansion has been the subject of numerous paranormal investigations and can be booked by ghost hunting groups for private research upon request and availability.

“Burn Brae Mansion is one of my favorite places to stay when I am up here.”
