The Kingston Trio

In 1957 the Kingston Trio emerged from San Francisco’s North Beach club scene to take the country by storm, bringing the rich tradition of American folk music into the mainstream.  Their breakout single, the chart-topper “Tom Dooley,” was followed over the years by a succession of hits that include “Greenback Dollar,” “Where Have All The Flowers Gone,” “Scotch and Soda,” and the Carter Family tune, “Worried Man.”

The Kingston Trio was one of the biggest pop acts of the late ‘50s and early ‘60s, with 14 Billboard Top Ten albums, including five that reached number one.  They blazed the way for such vocal groups as Peter, Paul and Mary and the Limelighters, while influencing the musical tastes of a generation.  The Trio is still on the road 30 weeks a year, bringing back great memories and making new ones.
