Editorial Reviews

SUPERB FM RADIO RECORDING FROM DAVID GILMOUR & BAND IN 1984 The first member of Pink Floyd to release a solo album, David Gilmours eponymous 1978 record was met with largely positive reviews and reasonable success, reaching as it did a respectable No.17 on the UK album chart. Fast forward 6 years and it was time for album No. 2 from Gilmour, the highly regarded About Face, released 5th March 1984, with lyrics to two cuts by Pete Townshend, and featuring a sublime roster of musicians which included Steve Winwood, Jeff Porcaro, Anne Dudley, Jon Lord and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Within a month of its release, Gilmour and band set out on the road to tour the record, a jaunt which lasted from March 31 to July 16, 84, covering Europe and North America. On 24th April the entourage performed an electric show at Stockholm s Johanneshovs Isstadion, which captured the essence of the entire tour better than any other date on the outing. Featured on this double CD package is a perfect FM broadcast recording of this Swedish concert, including the entire show which is now available for fans to own for the first time.

As expected, the sound is not up to modern live quality. It was taken from a video of a concern Gilmour performed back in the 1980s, so it's second generation sound. But then it's Gilmour, and as always he's terrific.

I have many boots in my collection. This sounds like a pretty good audience recording. Some intimate fan noise to be recorded directly from the broadcast or recorded from the actual broadcast over FM. Muffled dialog from Mr. Gilmour. I have better recordings from this tour. Save your $ unless you are a die hard Gilmour fan.

Disappointed. a reminder of how good a concert it was. Bottom line poor recording.

Very poor product. It sounds like someone recorded it from the back row of the concert with a cassette recorder, burned it to a CD, and then mass distributed it. Don’t waste your money. “Boo” on Amazon for allowing such a poor quality bootleg to be sold.

1.0 out of 5 stars Finger weg!

Optisch gut gemachte Doppel CD.

3.0 out of 5 stars La grabación es mediocre

1.0 out of 5 stars FM
Reviewed in Japan on September 7, 2018

1.0 out of 5 stars
