Jenna Dewan has been too busy living life to plan a wedding with fiancé Steve Kazee but that is all about to change soon!
Dewan, 43, revealed during an interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show that she and Kazee have finally set a wedding date four years after getting engaged in 2020. Her reasons for waiting? Well, where do we begin!
“We’ve been engaged forever,” Dewan told host Jennifer Hudson, 42. “We got engaged and then there were so many life things that happened… All of a sudden there was [COVID-19] and [the] pandemic and home and then baby number three. So we kept pushing this day.”
The Rookie star shared that she didn’t want to get married while pregnant but is in the midst of planning while she awaits her third baby’s arrival. “But now we really are wanting to and really are setting the date and getting it going,” she added.
Dewan and Kazee started dating in 2018, around six months after the star split from ex-husband Channing Tatum, with whom she shares a daughter named Everly who was born in 2013 — Tatum and Dewan were married for nine years.
In 2019, Dewan revealed that she was expecting her first baby with Broadway star Kazee. Their son, Callum, was born in 2020 — a month after Kazee popped the question. Dewan announced she was pregnant with her third child in January 2024.
Despite the many delays that pushed the couple’s wedding to the back burner, Dewan has no regrets about waiting. “I believe the timing is right. I think maybe baby no. 3 had to be here for the whole family [to be] complete,” she told Hudson. “It always works out that way. I believe in divine timing.”
And it seems like the wedding might be quite the party if Dewan gets her dream wedding officiants — RuPaul and Oprah — to agree to participate. She said if either of them said yes, she would “set a date tomorrow.”
“Both of them I love,” she said. “Are you kidding? I grew up obsessed with Oprah. RuPaul does no wrong. I love [Rupaul’s] Drag Race. Jennifer, if you’re also available?”
“Normally I do the solos. If you need me to render a selection–,” Hudson joked, to which Dewan responded, “Oh my gosh. Can you imagine? The guests would be so happy. We’d be so honored.”
