Steve Cole is a renowned American saxophonist and composer, known for his contributions to contemporary jazz music. Born on August 17, 1970 in Chicago, Illinois, Steve Cole showed a natural aptitude for music from an early age, and began playing the saxophone in middle school.
Cole studied music at Northwestern University, where he developed a passion for jazz and played in several bands. After graduation, he began performing in Chicago’s vibrant jazz scene, eventually gaining recognition for his distinctive style and musicianship.
In 1998, Steve Cole released his debut album, “Stay Awhile”, which received critical acclaim and helped establish him as a rising star in contemporary jazz. He went on to release a string of successful albums, including “Between Us” (2000), “NY LA” (2003), and “True” (2006), which produced several hit singles and earned him numerous awards and accolades.
Throughout his career, Steve Cole has collaborated with some of the biggest names in jazz, including David Benoit, Brian Culbertson, and Rick Braun. He has also performed with pop and R&B artists such as Janet Jackson, Boz Scaggs, and Brian McKnight.
In addition to his successful career as a recording artist and performer, Steve Cole is also an accomplished educator and has taught jazz saxophone at the college level. He is currently a faculty member at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami.
