Pitt Football Makes Top Five For Four Star DL Jalen Thompson

The Panthers have made the cut, but will face stiff competition if they want to land Thompson.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have flown under the radar as they pursue four-star 2023 defensive lineman Jalen Thompson, the No. 2 player in Michigan and No. 30 at his position according to 247Sports. Following a month of official visits to some of his finalists, Thompson named Pitt as one of his top five schools.

Ohio State, Michigan State, Penn State and Cincinnati make up the midwestern-centric group of finalists for the elite pass-rusher. Those are just five of the thirty offers that Thompson has under his belt. West Virginia, USC, Notre Dame, Michigan and Georgia were a few of the other programs vying for Thompson that missed the cut.

The Panthers already have a pair of defensive linemen committed in this class - three-stars Isaiah Neal and Antonio Camon - but would gladly make room for a player of Thompson's caliber. Thompson was one of the dozens of recruits to pass through Pitt's campus in June and he was one of the first to do so, in fact.
