Longford Town have parted ways with Stephen Henderson after defeat to Bray Wanderers left the Midlanders rooted at the bottom of the First Division table.

The club released a brief statement on Saturday night following their 3-0 home defeat to the Seagulls at Bishopsgate.

Longford are still searching for a first win after three draws and five losses to kick off their campaign.

"The club has tonight parted ways with manager Stephen Henderson," read the statement. "The club would like to express our gratitude to Stephen for his dedicated efforts during his time with the club."

Assistant boss Gavin Peers and coach Wayne Groves will take charge of the first team on an interim basis.

Henderson was appointed Longford boss in November 2022 and steered the club to an eighth place finish last term.

He is the third LOI boss to depart his job this term after Declan Devine (Bohemians) and Stephen O'Donnell (Dundalk) were shown the door at Premier Division level.
