6-part documentary series from arguably the greatest scientific mind in the world, the wheelchair-bound Stephen Hawking, which describes all current thinking on the Big Bang, origins of the universe, dark matter, black holes, etc. Includes interviews with leading astronomers and scientists, some commentary from the great man himself, and computer models of the theories. Having read Mr. Hawking's books and loving them, i was very much looking forward to watching this documentary. I was not disappointed. It covers the science of cosmology from the ancient Greeks to modern day in a way which is both thorough (for a non-cosmologist) yet understandable to anyone. This is quite an accomplishment for many of the subjects are abstract, highly mathematical and hard (sometimes impossible) to visualize. The accompanying (computer-) animations and photographic material are of a very high standard and serve well in clarifying the narrator's text. I will watch this one over and over again, which is not something i usually do. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in physics, astronomy, cosmology or natural sciences in general.
