Neighborhood: Samseongdong / COEX
A large business hub, Samseongdong is anchored by Korea’s World Trade Center, where many important business exhibitions and meetings are held. The enormous COEX mall sprawls underground, providing a myriad of things to do and see, including a large aquarium and movie theater. For a bit of peace and zen, head over to the ornate Bongeunsa Temple which is one of Korea’s most important places of worship. Or take a stroll nearby through the tranquil royal burial grounds of Seonjeongneung, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

- ěś ě§„ 권1 contributionByeolmadang LibraryToday, I came to COEX to do club activities. I visited stores such as Byeolmadang Library, Starbucks, Daiso, and Artbox. Among them, Byeolmadang Library was the best. Because I came after a long time. Also, it was more fun and enjoyable because I came with my friends. Also, Starbucks was good. Because I could drink a soft drink and relax.Visited June 2023Traveled with friendsWritten June 15, 2023
- Luv_ Rachmaninoff_No2Irvine, California92 contributionsThe most amazing & breathtaking library in a mall..This library is located inside the Coex mall in Gangnam. I remember being mesmerized by the library scene from the cartoon movie, The Beauty and the Beast, but that dwarfs in comparison to this. The Starfield library is so much more grand & breathtaking the moment you step inside the library. This is definitely the most beautiful library I’ve ever seen. It’s a must place to visit if you’re a bibliophile. I recall seeing a small portion of the library from one of the K-Dramas. There are plenty places to sit throughout the 1st & second floors as well as a coffee shop overlooking the library.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten July 5, 2023

It’s a wonderful sight to see so many books and magazines stacked so high and such a wide selection all together these days. Cannot imagine the librarian having to upkeep the place. With the invasion of social media, rare to see so many people wanting to step into libraries. But there people are just flocking in to take photos, chilling with a drink or chatting with friends. It has truly become a must stop for people visiting the COEX mall. Highly recommended to drop in to have a look, snap a couple of photos for instagram or post a clip on TikTok. Do note it can get quite crowded at times, so be prepared to joust with others for your favorite or perfect spot.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 14, 2023
- Lester GencianeoMacau, China188 contributionsCool looking LibraryWe came here unplanned when we roamed the mall after visiting the Gangnam Statue. Uniquely designed shelves and book arrangements probably made it to one of Korea's tourist attractions. You'll find more tourists than actual readers.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 14, 2023
- Apple DLuzon, Philippines26 contributionsAs in photosI was prepared to be underwhelmed but hey it was just as in photos. Surprisingly, for a big library of that popularity inside a mall - many people taking photos and videos - it was quiet and people respected that this is actually a working library, despite it being so popular with the IG crowd. I do wish that they sell books too for those who are just in transit and don’t have time to stay and read.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 30, 2023

The library has huge collection of books and was surprised to see many kids reading. The show was very good and decoration was excellent. Collection of books in every genre is mind blowing. - Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada2,287 contributionsGood for a quick visitWe saw the pictures of it online and felt it was worth checking out and it was for a few quick pictures. The library is located inside Coex Mall and there are quite a few places to sit, drink a coffee or read a book. Bongeunsa is the closest metro station and The mall has quite a few popular restaurants and stores. Plan to spend about half an hour in the library area and more if you want something to eat or enjoy shopping.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 19, 2023

To call this a library is a lot misleading. This is basically a tourist attraction space. The books here are staked so high that it's not meant to be taken to be read. The sitting places are dark with dim light and tons of people passing by. They run a Christmas light show with loud music and lights every hour. This is no place for reading and people reviewing need to say this so that unsuspecting tourists (who like to read) does not end up coming here with wrong expectations.
I repeat again, this is a tourist attraction space. Not a library for reading.

A unique place where shelves and shelves of book adorn a lobby of a building interconnected with malls, dept stores, office buildings, lots of cafes and coffee places (a Starbucks is reign there).
I’m not sure what they do with the books. Some are just not going to reachable as it’s stacked so high. Many just sit down to read the multitude of magazines on the tables and racks. Yet, it seems very orderly though it’s a very public place. Still, it’s a place where many visit just for a photo snap.

The Starfield Library is very photogenic with its 2 story bookshelf so it attracts a lot of photographers. We took the Subway (green line) to Samseong Station. Look for the exit for COEX and you will find the library. The library is inside a big mall with lots of other shops and restaurants. You will see people riding the escalator multiple times to get a good picture. So if you want a photo with no one, you will have to wait awhile.

The Starfield Library, which is pretty and impressive and beautiful. Two floors library with lots of colors and places to eat. Basically the only highlight of the Starfield COEX Mall which is pretty average.
Still at the bottom of the library you will find adults posing with big teddy bears, etc, etc common of the infantile immaturity of South Koreans.
But the beauty value of the library is there to be seen and for all to appreciate. Except for the Starfield Library which you can access directly from the streets, the rest of the mall is a waste of pure time.

The library was in the B1 of COEX Mall and attracted so many tourists. There was thousands of books which we could choose the one we loved, sought a seat and read the book. Also, the library was a lovely spot to take a picture. Should spend sometimes here if you love reading.

Is Starfield Library within Coex Mall? Google map indicated otherwise.

The Starfield Library is within the Coex Mall. In Korea, I would suggest the tourist to use the HANCHAO apps because Google is not showing very well in Korea and Busan. I have no choice to install the apps if you need more information.

The Library is inside the Mall, it closes at 10pm. The information desk do not provide much information as she said she only knows the information about the mall. If you want to how to leave there, you better search yourself.
