A new report claims an actor from the CW's Arrowverse has a role in Star Wars' upcoming prequel series The Acolyte. Set to begin streaming in June, The Acolyte will feature several different Jedi Knights who lived 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace as they investigate a dark new threat. As such, it appears as though the show will be featuring yet another popular actor in the prequel trilogy's prequel series.

On The Hot Mic podcast, insider Jeff Sneider revealed that actor David Harewood reportedly has a smaller role in the upcoming Acolyte series. Harewood is best known for his role in the CW's "Arrowverse" of DC Comics live-action shows where he played the Martian Manhunter, having a prominent recurring role on Supergirl specifically.

While Harewood's reported casting is exciting, it's not yet known who he might be playing in the galaxy far, far away during the early High Republic Era.

The upcoming Star Wars show The Acolyte will take the franchise into the grand High Republic era, but what mysteries await in the Jedi’s golden age?

David Harewood's Acolyte Role Is Unknown

Will He Play A Jedi? Or Someone Darker?

Having an alleged smaller role, it's hard to say whom Harwood might be playing in The Acolyte. After all, the new Star Wars show is exploring a largely uncharted time in the canon, even by the standards of the High Republic which itself was only introduced as an early ara of peace and prosperity in 2021. Taking place 100 years before The Phantom Menace, The Acolyte is much further ahead in the Star Wars timeline than what's seen in Lucasfilm's ongoing High Republic novels and comics.

Regardless, David Harewood is quite the imposing character actor who can just as easily play a hero (like DC's Martian Manhunter) as he could a villain. It's not hard to imagine Harewood playing a leader of the High Republic's Jedi Council. Likewise, he could even be part of the coven of Force users seen in The Acolyte's first trailer. He could even be playing the long-rumored Darth Plagueis, Palpatine's master. However, this assumes that Lucasfilm would ignore the non-canon Legends where Plagueis was identified as an alien Muun. At any rate, the addition of David Harewood to The Acolyte's cast is very exciting.
