The SPS T&F teams traveled to NMH for our first meet of the season on Sat Apr 13. The weather conditions were challenging – 47 degrees, gusty winds, intermittent rain – but the Big Red track teams performed well overall. The girls' team finished first against NMH, Cushing Academy, and Worcester Academy while the boys' team finished second behind NMH but ahead of Cushing Academy and Worcester Academy. Here are the team scores:
- Girls: SPS - 81 NMH - 72 WA - 47 CA - 36
- Boys: NMH - 107 SPS - 79 WA - 54 CA - 8
Notable performances for SPS included captain Gabby Martiniello finishing first in the high jump, the 200m, the 400m and running the opening leg of the first place 4x400m relay; captain
Ernest Obiorah finishing first in the shotput and first in the discus; captain
Georgia Bussey finishing third in the 100m and the 200m and running the anchor leg of the 4x400m relay; captain
Andrew Carroll finishing first in the 800m and the 1500m and running the opening leg of the first place 4x400m relay; Ally Martiniello finishing first in the long jump and fourth in the 100m and the 200m;
Teigan Pelletier finishing first in the javelin, second in the high jump, and running a leg in the 4x400m relay;
Nicole Onuoha finishing first in the shotput and the discus.
