Having gone here for almost two years, I can say that it's a pretty good school. The positives for me have been that I've made my best friends ever and the classes are actually interesting. The negatives are mostly about how some of the administrators aren't in touch with the views of the students and seem to make rules just for the point of making rules. While I've been here, a lot of new things have been implemented and it's pretty consistently inconsistent whether or not they've actually benefitted the students.
love this school, the resources available for students and the flexibility of teachers is the best part for sure.
My time at St. Joseph Notre Dame has been a very rewarding and enjoyable experience. I am so grateful for the small, close community as I have been able to make many friends, try new things, and consider everyone there my family. The school does a wonderful job supporting their students whether it’s for academics, athletics, or our well being. While I enjoy many aspects of the school, one thing I would change is the athletic program. I would greatly appreciate more funding or effort into the sports program because I think that would bring a lot more students and interest in the school. St. Joseph Notre Dame has helped shaped me into who I am today and I will forever be grateful for that.
I think SJND showcases the pinnacle of Alameda diversity, and commitment to rigorous education. Most courses are UC a-g approved and they don't try to limit students to courses at the school. There is a bit unknown about the future given the new administration, however, I am hopeful that the community will pull through.
My experience at Saint Joseph Notre Dame has been overall really great. The school has so many great resources and promotes creativity and learning. I have had great interactions with all of my teachers and my classes are dynamic.
I am impressed with SJND. It is very well run, a friendly and kind community on a peaceful and beautiful campus. So far, as we just started this year, I am impressed with the enthusiastic teachers, the competent administration and the school culture. The communication is solid and clear and academics are challenging and supportive. It is a very integrated school from administration to faculty and support services. The Learning Services department is outstanding and the after school support is impressive. The diversity is great and the campus life is wonderful. The school also feels very safe which is so comforting during these times.
Great community. Strong alumni and challenging academics. Diverse teaching staff and highly credentialed. Most students participate in sports are other campus club activities. There's a rich a Catholic culture which supports all walks of life and practices good faith amongst the staff and student body.
My daughter is a new freshman at SJND. My daughter has been attending Catholic school since elementary. Throughout the years at our previous school we always felt isolated and unwelcome. So far this year the school has been extremely welcoming, inclusive, and supportive that is very important for my daughter and I. My daughter and I have attended all the school events so far this year, and at every event we were approached by all different members of the community and it just felt very welcoming. My daughter is also experiencing a great academic challenge with this new school. She is also offered Help if needed and very supported by teaching staff and administration. I appreciate the staff at Saint Joseph Notre Dame for being very inclusive and very supportive to me and my family. It is an amazing community. we are excited as a family to continue our high school career and look forward to seeing what is to come in the future
Solid school. Good compared to other schools. Clean, quiet, and safe environment. Some amazing teachers there.
SJND is a great Catholic high school located in Alameda, CA. This is a very strong faith based institution for young minds to build up their knowledge with morals, integrity and partnership. The school attracts alumni that return to teach or join the faculty as well. The school is small enough to allow students to get to know upper and lower class man alike, but just big enough that they aren’t always with the same group of friends or classmates. The school has an outstanding academic program and offer an accelerated program for students wanting to getting into bio-sciences. They also also many performing arts program such music, choir and theatre that cater towards those with an appetite for entertaining. Athletics is also an important part of the school’s culture with an assortment of sports for boys and girls, taking pride in being home to Jason Kid’s high school championship team.
I enjoyed my time at SJND thoroughly. I think there is a lot of opportunity for students to become involved in leadership positions and I think I was able to try a lot of things that I normally wouldn't have as a result of the smaller size of the school.
This is my son’s second year (sophomore year) at SJND. We love the supportive teachers, counselors, coaches, and staff. He is thriving and was even encouraged by his amazing science teacher Mr. Bates to apply to the Biomedical Science Program last year. He is enjoying the balance of academics (they truly prepare your student for college with the level of rigor provided), athletics, clubs and even leadership opportunities (he loves being part of the Ambassador Leadership Team and being an officer in the Filipino American Student Association). He has made what I’m sure will be life long friendships here because of the community SJND promotes. We highly recommend SJND to families with high school aged kids.
I like how the campus is small and you know where everything is. I also like how everyone is friendly and it is easy to talk to the staff there.
SJND is an incredibly tight-knit, diverse community that supports its students both academically and emotionally. The teachers are dedicated to providing quality education for their students and students in turn reciprocate this effort through their studies.
I had a pretty good experience, with no major complaints. There were times though that I felt I had no support from faculty and staff.
Something that I consider really important to me is the opportunity I have had over the past four years of high school to be introduced to a variety of different experiences, activities, and people. I have had a chance to be part of different groups at my school. That has helped me become a well-rounded person who can better appreciate different perspectives from various sectors of our school community. I imagine that very few other places would allow me to have the opportunity to be a student body president, lead in the school musical, captain of the basketball team, and officer of the black student union. I love to hear, see, and be a part of so many different perspectives because these differences have all played a significant role in who I am today. My high school community involvement is a significant part of my identity, and this is something I don't see changing in college.
Even though I had just started my freshman year at St. Joe's, I love it so much. All of the teachers I've had so far have been very respectful, kind, and other understanding to other students. They encourage my peers and I to ask questions along with trying our best to maintain good grades. My school offers a wide range of AP/Honors classes, clubs, and 30 sports teams which are really good. I'm personally involved in student clubs such as ASA and culinary. I also compete in cross country and track which is an amazing program here. The Biomed and STEAM program are really good.
Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School is a small school. Because of this, it presents a very close and welcoming community for everyone. I like to ask questions, and the teachers are always there to answer them and help me in my learning. They have a great academic curriculum that will help students get ready for their college career. Being a part of the BioMedical Sciences Program has taught me a great deal of information about the science field. There are also so many ways to get involved, including through sports, the musical, and clubs.
Great school overall since it offers a lot for a small campus. They aspire to be a college prep school, but the lack of resources and turnaround in counselors and teachers these last couple for years has made it a challenge to customize each students' needs in their college journey. They do an incredible job of building community and lifting community spirit, and the students are generally happy-looking and like being on campus.
The teachers were great. Other students mainly kept to themselves. Have not seen any bullying or any other form of bullying at school.
