St. Helens High School Reviews
Rating 3.05 out of 5 174 reviews
I began my attendance at St. Helens High School in 2020. Since then, I began to notice the lack of consistency among teachers and had little to no help from my counselor picking what classes I needed, or wanted. I was extremely underwhelmed with the lack of support I received from my school and teachers. I am a valedictorian this year, not because of my teachers or level of classes, but because I pushed through the confusion and had to seek help outside of my school to find someone who was able to help me with my studies. There were only two teachers my entire high school who actually helped me and genuinely cared about their students, and one of those two chose to leave due to the nonsense and lack of structure at the high school. I did not have the best high school experience, but it made me appreciate people who care about their job and made me realize that we take good educators for granted every day.
The whole time I’ve been here, the building has been under construction. I would say though, our school excels in sports and other school activities (band, choir.) I think some of the best parts of my time here is that generally the faculty in the school are supportive of everyone and are easy going. i think the worst part i’ve dealt with is the students to be completely honest. i would like to see better punishment for kids who are actively going against school rules and values.
My overall experience has been good. I would like to see more assistance resources with advanced math courses and college readiness. The school has been going through renovations since my Freshman year, so the facilities haven't been the best, however, once the renovations are complete, that should be much better. It has been difficult to get assistance with questions on assignments and direction with college preparedness/applying for scholarships.
