Spencer Breslin is an American actor and musician, best known for his roles in films such as ‘The Escape Clause’ and ‘Return to Neverland.’ He was born and raised in New York, US. Although his mother was a talent manager, Spencer and his siblings focused on their academics. They were homeschooled by their mother. Spencer was discovered by a talent manager at the age of 3, and he appeared in more than 50 commercials for products such as ‘McDonald’s’ and ‘Life’ cereal. He made his major acting debut at the age of 8, when he appeared in the popular ‘Disney’ film ‘The Kid,’ which had Bruce Willis in the main lead. After a successful foray into acting, Spencer starred in an array of films, such as ‘The Cat in the Hat’ and ‘The Shaggy Dog.’ Simultaneously, he also appeared in series such as ‘Soul Man’ and ‘Center of the Universe.’ Lately, he has been seen in films such as ‘Perfect Sisters’ and ‘Some Kind of Hate.’

Childhood & Early Life
Spencer Breslin was born on May 18, 1992, in New York City, to Michael and Kim Breslin. He was the second of the three children in the family. He had an older brother named Ryan Breslin and a younger sister named Abigail Breslin, who also became an actor. He is of Irish, Austrian, and English descent.
Spencer’s father worked as a telecommunications consultant, and his mother was a talent manager. All the siblings were homeschooled by their mother.
While growing up, Spencer showed no inclination toward the entertainment industry, even though his parents were ready to support him. The family soon moved to the Lower East Side, where Spencer joined a kindergarten.
He was discovered by a talent scout while he was playing in his school’s playground. He was offered to be represented immediately He ended up appearing in many commercials as a kid. Before he turned 8, he had appeared in commercials for popular brands such as ‘McDonald’s’ and ‘Life’ cereal.
By the age of 8, he had made his film breakthrough, and in the next 2 years, he traveled around the world for shoots. He also expressed interest in joining the ‘Notre Dame’ and playing football.
During the early years of his career, he was coached by his mother, who taught him the nuances of screen acting.

Career
Spencer made his acting debut at the age of 4, with a role in the sitcom ‘Soul Man.’ He appeared as ‘Fred Weber’ on the show, for three episodes. He then continued to star in series such as ‘Law & Order’ and ‘Trinity.’
He had his major acting breakthrough in 2000, when he appeared in ‘Disney’s ‘The Kid.’ Spencer played ‘Rusty Duritz,’ one of the leading roles in the film, alongside Bruce Willis. Although the film was a moderate critical success, it went on to become one of the highest-grossing films of the year. His role in the film earned Spencer the ‘Young Artist Award’ for the ‘Best Performance in a Feature Film - Young Actor Age Ten or Under’ in 2011.
The same year, he appeared in two Christmas specials titled ‘Kenny the Shark’ and ‘The Ultimate Christmas Present.’
In 2002, he turned to voice acting briefly and lent his voice to the character ‘Crandall’ in the ‘Disney’ series ‘Teamo Supremo.’ The same year, he voiced the character of ‘Cubby’ in the animated film titled ‘Return to Neverland.’
Around the same time, he appeared in the supporting role of ‘Curtis the Elf’ in the Christmas film titled ‘The Santa Clause 2.’ His adorable look landed him the same kind of roles in a few other movies, too. He also resumed his education, as he had been homeschooled by his mother and could not attend a regular school due to his acting projects.
In the next few years, he appeared in many TV films, such as ‘You Wish!’ Simultaneously, he also did many feature films.
In 2003, he appeared in the comedy–fantasy film titled ‘The Cat in the Hat,’ essaying the role of ‘Conrad Walden.’ The film was a huge commercial success but failed to impress critics.
In 2004, he appeared in the supporting role of ‘Henry Davis’ in the comedy–drama film titled ‘Raising Helen.’ The same year, he played one of the lead roles (‘Miles Barnett’) in the sitcom titled ‘Center of the Universe.’ The sitcom was a failure and was canceled after one season, spanning 15 episodes.
By the mid-2000s, he was mostly typecast in a certain kind of roles. Thus, he was seen mostly as a supporting actor, in films such as ‘The Shaggy Dog’ and ‘Zoom.’
In 2006, Spencer reprised his role of ‘Curtis the Elf’ in the film ‘The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.’
In 2008, Spencer made a small appearance in M Night Shyamalan’s post-apocalyptic psychological thriller film ‘The Happening.’ Later that year, Spencer played the lead role of ‘Harold Clemens’ in the comedy film titled ‘Harold.’ The film was a major critical and commercial disaster.
Over the next few years, he played many small and supporting roles in films such as ‘Born to Race,’ ‘Stuck in Love,’ and ‘Perfect Sisters.’ He also appeared on the TV show ‘Bones’ and the TV movie ‘Bless This Mess.’
Without any significant success in films or on TV, Spencer took the musical route and released his debut album, ‘Labor Day,’ in 2012.The album was written and composed by Spencer himself, and he also sang all its 11 songs.
He also owns a label called ‘Acadian Recording Co.’ and is a member of the band ‘Broken Machine.’
