It's amazing going back in time and listening to these radio sessions, especially the ones done here in L.A. when I was...a LOT younger than I am now! KDAY back in the early '70s was the coolest "underground" radio station, and hearing these sessions now--knowing that I used to listen to KDAY all the time--makes me wonder, was I listening that day? did I hear this when it was live?
Marc Bolan mesmerizes both in spoken word and song--leaving me to wonder, yet again, how/why America failed to "get" Marc Bolan and T.Rex like other parts of the world did. I'll never understand why my fellow Americans didn't fall as wildly in love as I did. Perhaps because the only T.Rex song they heard on the airwaves was "Get It On" (a.k.a., "Bang a Gong"), but there was so much more to Marc Bolan and T.Rex than that one song.
But those who missed out on Marc's magic the first time around can catch a glimpse of what he was all about with this two disc set. His charm, his wit, and his unbridled sensuality/sexuality come shining through.
Among the songs are some of my favorites including "Spaceball Ricochet," "Elemental Child," "Cosmic Dancer," "Jeepster," and "Baby Strange"--the latter famous for its "I want to call you, I want to ball you" lyrics. :)
This set is a must for any serious Marc Bolan fan.
