Cher opened up about the multiple miscarriages she experienced during her ill-fated marriage to Sonny Bono.
Taking to Twitter Monday night, the 76-year-old Goddess of Pop said she endured three miscarriages, with the first one being at the tender age of 18.
“I was alone in our house,” she tweeted, saying her husband at the time, Bono, found her “sobbing” and “rocking on our floor.”
After seeing a doctor, Cher said she was “screaming in pain,” which prompted medics to rush her to the hospital and straight into the operating room.
“WHAT WOULD HAPPEN 2 ME TODAY,” she asked, referring to the Supreme Court ruling against abortion rights by overturning Roe v. Wade.
After a fan said they had “no idea” of Cher’s pregnancy losses, the singer responded she “never thought” she would share it.
“Mothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, best friends…no woman is safe in America. Soon no sane person will be safe,” she added.
The “Believe” hitmaker went on to have two kids later in life, with her first child, son Chaz Bono, being born when she was 22.
Cher later welcomed son Elijah Blue Allman, now 46, with her late ex-husband Gregg Allman.
The singer previously opened up about her miscarriages while trying to have a child with Bono, saying the experience was a “nightmare.”
“It’s a spontaneous miscarriage, something that spontaneously aborts the fetus. It’s called an angry uterus,” she told Parade magazine in 2010.
“After the third time, it got to be a nightmare. People would be congratulating me because I was pregnant, and then I wouldn’t be, and then they would be like, ‘Oh, we’re so sorry.’ I thought, ‘God, I don’t want to have to hear this anymore.'”
