Songs by George Harrison Volume Two

George Harrison

"George Harrison, writer of love songs in my opinion, some of the best love songs of the period And what a range he encompassed, from love songs to the social conscience of Taxman and Tears of the World. As I look down the vast output of this mans songs, my Foreword could turn into Book 3. Ringo Starr

In 1985 artist Keith West, one of the finest botanical watercolour artists in the world, was introduced to George Harrison, and so began a close collaboration to produce a stunning set of watercolours illustrating the composer's many memorable songs.

This beautifully illustrated second volume contains 59 songs by George Harrison, including such classics as 'My Sweet Lord', 'Something' and 'All Things Must Pass'.

A recording of four previously unreleased tracks from George is provided, with the choice of vinyl or CD format.

THE MANUSCRIPT

Songs by George Harrison Volume Two

"It has been pure pleasure for me to see these ideas go from a thought to pencil sketches to paintings, so taking on a life of their own." - George Harrison

Artist Keith West soon found himself travelling regularly from his cottage in North Wales to Oxfordshire to discuss with George Harrison the interpretations of his song lyrics. Keith submitted detailed pencil sketches for George's approval, and from these drawings his remarkable finished paintings were produced.

To complement these delightful images West has hand-lettered the words to the songs. The lyrics are embellished with additional small paintings that possess an irresistible charm.

The collection is punctuated with text contributions from Ringo Starr and Harry Nilsson, plus an afterword by George Harrison himself.

"Derek Taylor introduced me to George Harrison sometime during the late, great Sixties. And like a Harrison tune, the route was circuitous... Somewhere between the pages of this beautiful and cleverly illustrated book, you will find your own George Harrison." - Harry Nilsson
