Renaissance (4) – A Song For All Seasons

My copy looks like a solid VG. Groove wear doesn't appear to be terrible, but it's noisy throughout. I've the #5 variant. It was vacuum cleaned twice and hit with the Zero.

Sometimes the vinyl market is a mystery to me when you get this 45 years old original pressing for close to nothing compared to other OGs from that era. What you get here isn't only an amazing (but overlooked) album in the symphonic prog niche, with greatly crafted songwriting between prog epics and pop melodies, talented musicians (most notably the female singer) and a lush production, including a real orchestra. You also get an absolutely killer sounding pressing that can compete with almost anything from the seventies soundwise: Very dynamic, big soundstage, crystal clear instrument separation, massive drum and bass sound, sparkling highs, ...

I didn't even consider to get the new 2023 pressing, because it's simply pointless: Abbey Road's remasters not only often aren't full analogue and quite boring sounding, so there's no way it will come close to this, it's also more expensive. So I highly recommend to get this OG, which should be on every list of the most bargain OGs from the seventies!

The last great Renaissance album. More modern sounding than previous Renaissance albums with the addition of electronic keyboard synths, and a more pop sound on shorter tracks. "Day of The Dreamer" is a contender for greatest Renaissance epic, as well the title track.

Bought a pristine copy of this LP at a local antique store. Wasn't expecting much with the 80's looking cover but I was beyond pleasantly surprised, this is an amazing album, possibly my favorite from Renaissance. Like another reviewer said you can find this one cheap, not enough people know about it, if you see a clean copy, snag it up.

This is a great album! Not perfect but her voice with the fantastic prog makes this one of those albums you should definitely own. One of those rare records are is cheap and worth triple what you’ll pay for it.

Get rid of this edition. The mixing is so bad and loud that is unbearable to listen. Tested with an ELAC Uni-Fi 5.2, AT 120 X USB with a Shibata stylus and a Yamaha Receiver. Probably sounds better with a low-end setup, but I advise going after the first American pressing.

Thank you Mikael Åkerfeldt for this wonderful recommendation. The song "A Song For All Seasons" is a prog masterpiece. It's not the greatest sounding vinyl I own but it's also over 40 years old so not going to complain too much about that.

This press is a reissue and most leikely an early second press cause the white warner label was introduced in the late 70s

Underrated prog cheapy. The main title "A Song for all Reasons" is 11 minutes of pure blissful prog heaven.
