Brewer will stay. Cal is smart and realizes that would look bad on him to come in and fire the former Fayetteville bulldog and Razorback from the staff. They'll find a place for him and they should.

I think Brewer will stay. Kenny Payne will be there too.

I was about to ask, does anybody have an update on either of them? Payne and Cal together again will cook on the recruiting trail.

At the conference thing in BWA prior to the media presser he was greeting all the former Razorback guys who were there and said “I look forward to working with you” to Ronnie. Would be dumb not to keep him around with how much the fans and players like him.

I feel like Ronnie comes with the building lol. As a former FHS bulldog and razorback myself, I say we riot if he isn’t retained.

I read an article earlier discussing assistants.

https://247sports.com/college/arkansas/article/john-calipari-arkansas-coaching-staff-230318735/

The opinion of the writer was Ronnie Brewer would be retained as well as someone else that’s been on staff since the end of Mike Anderson’s tenure.

Sounds like Brewer is staying as well as a strength coach. Everyone else is following Muss, Keith Smart is supposed to be up for a HC job though.

This is disappointing to me. I was hoping cal would bring in some fresh minds. He always had the tale talent but it’s the execution that has gotten him sent home from the tournament in embarrassing fashion. A lot of that falls on him, but also his assistants.

I disagree. We didn’t bring Cal here to use Arkansas as an experiment on new style of play and philosophy. For better or worse I want the coach that we signed to be the same guy that he was at Kentucky.

Cal is 16-112 in games decided by 5 points or less, he is 2-8 in his last 10 tournament games , hasn't been to the final four since 2015

Is that what you want?

Did you completely make those numbers up? He’s 5-5 in his last 10 tournament games and I’m not going even try to debunk the 5 point game nonsense. He went 4-6 in those games this past year. Are you seriously saying he’s only won 16 games within 5 points?

The guy is in the hall of fame for a reason, I trust his judgment.

We’re throwing out “hasn’t been to a Final Four since 2015” as if that’s disqualifying to coach a program that hasn’t been there since 1995.

Why are we talking about this as a hypothetical. We actually have Cal. Like what do you want in May? Oh no we are gonna suck!

1 ncaa tournament game won in last 5 years is not who I want to be.

1 championship in 10yrs. That is who I want to be

u/barktothefuture avatar

John wooden won 6 in a row. Maybe we could get him.

He has no team. He has to get a staff in place to start building a roster. He doesn’t have time to interview a bunch of coaches he’s not sure about.

u/barktothefuture avatar

Yup. Better to bring proven losers than trying to hire good coaches.

You seem like the type of person that would complain about being given a $100 bill that’s too wrinkled.

This guy gets it
