Planes of various airlines land at both terminals of Sofia Airport. You can check which one your flight is scheduled for on the airport’s website or on your boarding pass.
Once you leave the plane, depending on whether you land on the passenger sleeve or at the stand, you will either walk or be taken to the terminal by bus.
If your journey will continue on a connecting flight after your arrival at Sofia Airport, follow the latest flight information and follow the signs to the appropriate gate. Be sure to collect your luggage if it has not been checked in by your final destination.
Before you get to the baggage area to collect yours, you will go through the border crossings to check your identity documents. It’s a good idea to get them ready in advance to avoid crowds and queues. For convenience, you can also use the electronic border check counters located at Terminal 2. See more here.
Information on customs restrictions and goods, cash and other valuables to be declared on entry into the country can be obtained from DG Customs. Specific enquiries can also be directed to +359 2 980 4500.
The Orders of the Minister of Health on the restriction of the spread of COVID-19 are still in force upon entry into Bulgaria. They are published on the website of the Ministry of Health and contain information on the documents required for free entry into Bulgaria.
If you need to perform a rapid antigen or PCR test you can use the Кandilarov and Genica laboratories located in the public area of the two terminals. The tests are ready within 15 minutes and 2 hours respectively.
Leaving the airport building you have several options for getting to the city centre. A convenient connection from Terminal 2 is offered by the metropolitan metro, which connects the airport with the historical centre of Sofia, as well as with the districts of Druzhba, Mladost, Lyulin, Hadji Dimitar and Gorna Banya.
Electric buses 184 and 84 offer a quick connection to the centre of the capital, while 384 runs on the Sofia Airport – Druzhba route.
If you choose a taxi, the company with which the airport operator SOF Connect has a contract is OK SuperTrans, which gives security to travellers.
If you need to move between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, you can use the free inter-terminal shuttle. The bus operates on the route Terminal 1 – Terminal 2 – Terminal 1 between 08:00 and 20:00 at 30-minute intervals and at night between 20:20 and 07:40 on the route Terminal 1 – Terminal 2 – Terminal 1 at 40-minute intervals.
