Comes as 4 discs in a thick DVD sized case and includes songs from all Mayall's fantastic albums in this period (Movin' On, Blues from Laurel Canyon, Turning Point, etc.) plus a number of singles (some have both A and B sides). I mention the case size because the picture here looks square like a regular CD size, so I was surprised. A nice booklet built into the case, which I'm not sure if I like a non-removable booklet or not, includes a listing of each song and who the musicians were for each song as well as the album (or single) and catalog numbers. The booklet also covers the extensive change up of personnel that Mayall had to endure. This is a great introduction to a broad range of Mayall's incarnations and musical directions.

A worthy selection of Mayall's output coming from his best years. He was a mentor to may of the best that Brittan had to offer (Clapton/Fleetwood/McVie/Green and more) and this collection hits the man at his best. Lots of blues/jazz/folk and a bit of rock here. 5+ hours of great music and liner notes worthy of reading.

John Mayall is an acquired taste. As you may know, many musicians played with John Mayall. Associated acts; John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Canned Heat, Cream, Fleetwood Mac, Keef Hartley Band, Mark-Almond, Pure Food and Drug Act. If you like blues, add it to your collection.
And by the way, His newer stuff is real good too.

Umfassende Werkschau im tollen Sound
Reviewed in Germany on September 14, 2010
Klasse Musik - Klasse Aufmachung. Lohnt sich.
