Anastasia Z It was boring. Nothing interesting happened and the ending wasn't that great. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/02/24 Full Review Audience Member You know the ending at the very beginnin But it's kind of a pleasant journey.qq This isn't for everybody obviously, Probably just the real romantics. I will still Recommend it. James Welch Henderson Arkansas 12/5/2022 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/05/22 Full Review Audience Member Christmas romantic comedies are the epitome of a tired out genre that consistently scrapes the bottom of the barrel. However, this film is unique in its fresh perspective, revitalizing the genre through both its clever pun of a name (you see, "Snowmance" is a portmanteau of the words "Snowman" and "Romance" ;-)) and creative plot. Without spoiling anything, this love triangle tugs at the heartstrings like no other; not even the age-old love story between Victoria, Mr. Mistoffelees, and Munkunstrap from the hit movie Cats (2019) can compare. As researchers, we collected quantitative data regarding a variety of variables and were, quite frankly, disappointed due to their limited prevalence. The first variable examined was Snow Puns. We believe that the addition of puns into a film, even within the title, helps to make the film appeal to a more intellectual audience, as the wordplay will go over the typical viewer's head. We identified six (6) snow puns throughout the film; this is acceptable, though we would have loved to see more (is any amount of snow puns truly enough?). The next variable we looked at was Awkward Competitive Glares (ACG). This is a measure of how many times rivals Nick and Cole looked at each other with an intense, competitive edge (for those of you who haven't picked up on it, Cole is a pun name based upon the "eyes of coal" iconic to the snowman archetype). We identified 12 ACGs throughout the movie. This helped to establish the love triangle that provides the primary conflict of the film. The final variable we collected data on is the friendzone counter (FZC); this variable brings to light our only complaint with the movie (and the sole reason it did not manage to earn 5 stars). This counter examined the amount of times the relatable character Nick, Sarah's childhood best friend, was friendzoned by either himself or others. This took place 38 times throughout the film, and in our professional opinions as experts on both film and being friendzoned this did NOT cement his "friendzone status". Had his position been made more clear, we could sympathize more with his plight; however, the failure to comply with this caused the character to be seen as, like the kids say these days, a "Simp (?)". This paints those who have experienced the tragedy of the friendzone in a negative light; this "SIMP"ly can't do. However, this minor setback only slightly tarnishes our high opinion of this pristine film. The only reason to not watch this movie would be if you were about to be hit by a meteor and could only choose to watch one more film before you die; in which case, in our humble opinion, one should choose to watch Cats (2019). We would highly recommend this viewing experience to men, women, and snowmen who are in the friendzone, in a love triangle, or just think Olaf's neat!
