      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

While it offers an appropriately dark take on the fairy tale that inspired it, Snow White and the Huntsman is undone by uneven acting, problematic pacing, and a confused script.

Sean S I will start by saying I truly expected a much better movie than this, while the dark tone is refreshing the action was a bit of a let down and so was the acting. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/31/24 Full Review matthias s "Snow White and the Huntsman" is a visually stunning but slightly uneven cinematic experience. Kristen Stewart, while resembling Snow White, struggles to display a wide range of emotions, sticking to her signature expression. Charlize Theron shines as the wicked queen, delivering a captivating performance that steals the show. Chris Hemsworth is his reliably charismatic self, although his peculiar accent is a distraction. The film's darker and grittier take on the classic fairy tale is admirable, but the execution leaves something to be desired. The use of normal-sized actors for the dwarves is a surprising choice that might not sit well with everyone. On a positive note, the film's sets and costumes are a true highlight, immersing viewers in a fantastical world. While the CGI effects could have been more polished, they are decent enough to maintain the movie's appeal. However, the film suffers from an excessive runtime and uneven pacing, making it occasionally hard to stay engaged. In the end, "Snow White and the Huntsman" offers a unique spin on a beloved story, but it falls short of its full potential. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/18/23 Full Review Gregory L Lots of action interjected with bad lines and bad direction and some Robin Hood, but okay for a Saturday night. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/11/23 Full Review Michelle S I enjoyed this movie. It's not perfect, but it feels like a fairytale and that's all I really need. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/10/23 Full Review Blu B Dull, lifeless, and just flt out boring 95% of the time. The music is as boring, generic, and forgettable as they come. The editing is ok enough and nothing about the story is really broken or anything like that. It's the acting, pacing, and cinematography that is the problem. All of it is subpar. Stewart is boring, lifeless, and has no chemistry really with anyone. The dwarfs besides McShane who is just ok all blend in and are super forgettable. Theron is terrible as a villian because she is so lifeless and has no emotion the entire time. Even when she screams there is no emotion behind it. The best thing is Hemsworth who is just ok but he at least as some backstory and charm at times in this lifeless story. The lighting, sets, and special effects are all just dull and lifeless to look at. Nothing pops at all in this. Snow White herself is given almost no character. Stuff happens to her but we don't know anything about her and there is no charm at all or life in any of the performances or scenes themselves. The end fight is epic with quite a bit of practical effects that are solid, but at this point your so drained from all the boredom its hard to get invested into it because it looks like every other fight you've seen from characters you don't care about. This needed more life to its asetics and better character devlopment for the huntsman and Snow White. I can't really recommend this to anyone. Skip this. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/18/23 Full Review Cody W SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN is more than just an adaptation of a magical fairy tale. It is an amazing spectacle that will leave you guessing until the very end. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Too bad about some of that plot though.
