Slow Dancing in the Big City Reviews

This tearjerker, directed by Avildsen (ROCKY), is too sentimental but still worth seeing. Sorvino plays a New York columnist in love with a dancer, Ditchburn, who has just moved into his building after a recent break up with her boy friend. The girl is forced to continue dancing despite an illness. While working on a story about a ghetto boy trying to overcome his debilitating environment, Sorvino also takes on a story about the dancer. In the process true love develops. Sorvino is quite good as the writer, giving a performance not overly bogged down in the material.
