I think I've seen every Sinbad movie made and while some adventure movies were just old ideas with different names this is the first time I've seen a modern Sinbad that ties back to the "original" Sinbad. Yes, it also has good eye candy but the story was good and character development wasn't a waste of time. The tech side of the making of the film was very good. The silly costuming at one point was funny rather than distracting.

The story was great. I would have given it a 4.5 if that were available, but its better than a 4 so I gave it 5.

The acting was not great. Everyone in it badly needs acting lessons.

However, it may be meant to be more like a telanovella than a Hollywood movie, if so the acting was perfect. Lots of action, not many slow spots.

The story is about a great grandson of the original Sinbad, who doesn't believe in magic in any way. He has become an outlaw and a treasure hunter looking for the original Sinbad's treasure trove. From there it gets interesting.

Modern day Sinbad (John Hennigan) is a nitwit who doesn’t believe in magic, doesn’t believe in cursed objects, doesn’t believe a genie standing right in front of him. He’s a poor judge of character, quick to get into trouble, someone who thinks he can avoid danger if he just makes a lame joke. This is an adventure flick as presented by The Asylum, the makers of muck. The hallmark of Asylum movies is their tendency towards claustrophobic filmmaking. Everything is shot with extreme closeups with a bare minimum of sets and locations, and a small manageable cast. Their stories rarely make sense. This movie is no exception. Sadly, their “star” doesn’t have charm enough to make everyone forget that.

Many humans will want to admire that face, and he can act. I think this guy even did his own stunts. Watch this film for the beautiful people, or the quips. Glad I purchased versus rent because I've seen it 3 times already.
