1.15pm – The Equatorial Group
Hailing from the sleepy seaside town of Eastbourne on England’s Sussex coast, The Equatorial Group is formed of five friends from various and differing musical backgrounds. By navigating and taming this musical tug-of-war, they have created three records, in which some listeners hear the shadows of Neil Young or the colours of Fleetwood Mac. Regardless, this roots-pop outfit are a very popular local draw.
2.15pm – The Longshore Drifters
The LONGSHORE DRIFTERS are an East Sussex quintet of duet heavy, old school country pickers who wear the influence of golden age Honky Tonk and Cosmic Country proudly on pearl snapped sleeves. A living jukebox exuding the very essence of dim lights, thick smoke and loud loud music, two stepping in the shadows of Conway & Loretta, Gram & Emmylou, The Drifting Cowboys and The Buckaroos
3.15pm – The Near Jazz Experience
Cross Can’s rhythm section with Roland Kirk, Motown & the Third Stream and you’ll get close to where The NJE is coming from.
That rhythm section is Madness bassist Mark Bedford & former Higsons drummer Simon Charterton. Terry Edwards plays saxes (two at once), trumpet, melodica & flute. The result? Electrifyingly groovy funk/world/rock music played on jazz instruments.
