Sierra Canyon has changed me for the better and made sure I was ready for college. I loved the rigorous courses and challenges I faced during my time on campus. However, I did not enjoy the lack of diversity across the board. As a Latino student, I felt outcasted and white washed at times with the lack of representation at the school. I also felt neglected as a female athlete compared the the male athletes on campus who had more opportunities and it clearly was not fair. I would not be happy attending again because of the social dynamics and lack of equity in my education. But, my teachers gave me the resources and skills to be an amazing college student.
As a former student , I will say that you won’t be prepared for college attending this school. Most upper school teachers are unable to teach what they know and are disorganized. The teachers have impressive resumes but lack teaching skills. You will have to hire outside tutors on top of paying the expensive tuition just to get decent grades. Very few students get into top tier schools. They usually have sports scholarships tied to their acceptance if they do.
My overall experience with Sierra Canyon was a good one. I transferred there after my freshman year of highschool and it was the best decision of my life. The teachers at the school were the best and were always looking to make sure you are ready for college. I was a baseball player at the school and the involvement with sports at the school is just what I was looking for. Overall the school got me ready for college and the real world fast.
