2023 NBA Draft Prospect Highlights: Sidy Cissoko

Overview
Sidy Cissoko spent the 2022-23 season with the G League Ignite, averaging 12.8 points, 3.5 assists, 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks across 29.3 minutes per game in 28 games. The Frenchman also featured in the G League All-Star Game, finishing with six points, two rebounds and two assists in 17 minutes. Cissoko also averaged 9.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in 15 games (10 starts) in the Showcase Cup. His best game occurred against the Memphis Hustle on Feb. 24, where he finished with 24 points, six rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block in  30 minutes. Cissoko scored at least 20 points eight times, with six of those games coming since the beginning of February.

Analysis
Cissoko is a player who thrives on his instincts and elite athleticism to make plays, particularly on the defensive end. He’s a 6-foot-5 wing who can defend multiple positions. Cissoko can handle both guards and forwards with equal success, and he is big enough to guard power forwards in small-ball lineups. Cissoko is not just a defender, though. His great measurables allow him to attack the rim easily, and while he isn’t blinding quick, he’s still a menace in transition. Cissoko is not a score-first player, but he can still make an impact on offense due to his excellent vision.

Projection
Cissoko has the potential to be a first-round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, but that doesn’t mean he will carve a role right away. His Summer League showing could be pivotal to determining just how NBA-ready he is. Spending time in the G League suggests he’s already tested at that level, but it wouldn’t be shocking if he starts his NBA career playing in the G League once again. He figures to end up as a bench player in his first NBA season, with the best-case scenario being he is a key reserve or impactful role player down the road.
