3. She bagged her first-ever minor role for "School 2013" after her first audition.ย 

Although Hye Sun dreamt of becoming an actress way back in elementary, she debuted much later in her early 20s. In her first audition, she even cut her hair short in an effort to stand out from the crowd of contestants. She sure does know how to make an impression! Soon enough, she was sporting a minor role in the hit K-drama series School 2013, which eventually marked the beginning of her acting career. Who would have known she would be working with Lee Jong Suk and Kim Woo Bin in her first K-drama production?

4. Sheโ€™s considered a โ€œlate bloomerโ€ in the drama industry.ย 

Now an award-winning actress, Hye Sun is actually known for her humble beginnings. In fact, sheโ€™s considered a late bloomer in the entertainment industry. She spent the first few years of her career playing supporting characters to some of your favorite K-dramas like Oh My Ghost, She Was Pretty, and The Legend of the Blue Sea. Seven minor roles and two second lead roles later, she finally got casted for her first leading lady role in My Golden Life in 2017. Having helmed one of the highest rated television series in 2017, she won the best couple award with Park Si Hoo, along with two excellence awards for her exceptional performance in the series.ย 

5. Sheโ€™s taller than you think she is.

Believe it or not, sheโ€™s 172cm tall. By Philippine standards, the 5' 8" actress is undeniably blessed in height!ย

6. She learned ballet for her character in "Angelโ€™s Last Mission: Love."

Hye Sun has received praise and respect for accurately portraying the role of Lee Yeon-seo, a former ballerina who suddenly loses her sight after a tragic accident, on Angelโ€™s Last Mission: Love. Rightly so, as the actress went through six months of grueling ballet lessons to truly embody her character. Thanks to her strong commitment to her classes, she pulled off her ballet routines on the series like a pro!ย 

7. Hye Sun studied in the same school with some of your favorite K-drama stars.

Not only did Hye Sun and Lee Jong Suk work on the same set, but they studied in the same school, too! Throughout her education, she attended the National High School of Traditional Korean Arts, before taking up Film Arts in Sejong University. While going to the former, she became classmates with Jong Suk and When the Camellia Bloomsโ€™ Kang Ha Neul.

8. Sheโ€™s a people-pleaser.

Hye Sunโ€™s first lead role in a film was for the 2020 drama Innocence. When comparing herself to her character, Ahn Jung-in, in an interview, Hye Sun admitted that she actually finds it hard to speak her mind, especially when it comes to conversing with other people. โ€œUnlike Jung-in, I find it difficult to tell people when I dislike something. I donโ€™t want people to dislike me. So I end up complimenting things even when I donโ€™t feel anything in particular,โ€ said the actress.

9. Sheโ€™s also acted in music videos.

Canโ€™t get enough of Hye Sun? Apart from her movies and dramas, sheโ€™s also starred in at least three music videos thus far. You can find her in What Women Wantโ€™s Curious, Naulโ€™s Feel Like, and g.o.d.โ€™s Snowfall, where she appeared alongside Kim Dong Wook.

10. Sheโ€™s a dog lover, too!

Just like K-drama stars Song Hye Kyo and Park Seo Joon, Hye Sun is also a proud fur momma to her very own Bichon Frise. In fact, sheโ€™s even taught him simple tricks like sitting and doing a high five. Sheโ€™s also made a special bond with Still 17โ€™s resident dog, Deok Gu. Everyone on set would agree he is quite a sweetheart.
