What travelers are saying
- Janet RHockessin, DE61 contributionsThis is truly a breathtaking experience. It is astounding what nature can create. Easy to walk through. Pathways are well lit and have handrails when needed. A self-guided tour with the pamplet allows you to linger as long as you want at any given spot.Written April 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - msboujhie3 contributionsA gorgeous tourist area. It was chilly but a wonderful place to visit and take pictures. First timer and I really enjoyed seeing the star and looking over the mountain in front of it. It has several areas you can stop by and have lunch and also do events with family and small groups. There's a zoo as well but didn't get to see it.Written February 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hank HVirginia548 contributionsI can’t think of a better way to spend a whole afternoon than to visit this wonderful place. It’s a good thing to be able to see authentic homes similar to those left behind in Europe by this country’s pioneers - they were literally deconstructed and then reassembled here - as well as the living quarters and work spaces they built and inhabited once they arrived. Thought provoking.
Sadly, the living quarters of our country’s African ancestors, prior to their enslavement, did not last long in the alternating hot and cold climate of the area so that exhibit is in the process of recreation. Their story is every bit, if not more important. The Native American exhibit, however, is in good shape.
Employees in period dress make the exhibits come alive with their stories, so be sure to spend time with them and ask them questions. Cost of admission is reasonable.
NOTE: Other reviewers noted that you can walk this outdoor museum in 1.5 hours, but that was only half the time we needed. You should plan on at least 3 hours here if you intend to speak to the employees and read the exhibit placards. On a windy, mid-March day we also wished we had dressed more warmly.Written March 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The acting is very strong, and the songs are a huge hit. The intimacy of this replica theater is also special. We loved it.Written April 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ncstatevaRoanoke, VA124 contributionsThis museum is definitely worth the time to visit. The staff that handle the tours are quite knowledgeable. You actually walk in the rooms and don't just view them from behind a rope. They have the largest collection of personal items that belonged to Jackson.Written March 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dottierayburnBethany Beach, DE2 contributionsWe really enjoyed the hike; just the right amount of exercise for a morning. The views from the top of Stony Man were fantastic - and we were rewarded further with the sight of two eagles soaring overhead.Written November 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ncstatevaRoanoke, VA124 contributionsGreat museum! We went on a Wednesday which happened to be their free admission day. The regular collection is quite expansive. I especially loved the old doll houses with the exquisite furnishings. They had a special exhibit at the time of drawings from Marvel comics. We spent quite a bit of time there.Written March 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ucfknightedChattanooga, TN53 contributionsThis was a great museum. They had lots of exhibits and good historical information. It has a little bit of everything from carriages to cars to trains to planes. There a few of the exhibits that you could go inside and see what they were like on the interior. This is definitely worth a couple of hours of your time.Written November 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jim L21 contributionsVMI has a very interesting campus with unique building architecture. There is a nice stone pathway behind campus. There are several display maps on campus that show this path. We walked it and found many exercise/drill stations along the route. It would have been interesting seeing some of the students working out here. Great walk......give it a go.Written September 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Greg M2 contributionsAwesome visit to Skyline Caverns today with my family. Had a great tour guide (Andrew) who was very knowledgeable and fun. Tour was about an hour. He kept things enjoyable and entertaining for the whole family. Was not crowded at all which was a worry since Skyline is closest caverns for the DC/Northern VA area. Definitely worth a trip.Written April 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- FLTeach2Key Largo, FL68 contributionsI’d give this more stars if I could. First we visited the lavender store where we sniffed, tasted tea and tested lotions. It was so relaxing. Then we progressed to the tasting room and it’s a delight. The tasting was done in a manner that was created during covid and was unique to us. We loved it and loved the wines even more. Everyone working there was polite, enthusiastic and helpful. This was worth visiting.Written November 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
