Sharon Acker’s legacy

One of Acker’s earliest credits was a supporting role in 1957’s “Lucky Jim.” A decade later, she starred opposite Lee Marvin in the cult classic “Point Blank.” Acker appeared in a handful of other movies, including “Don’t Let the Angels Fall” and “Happy Birthday to Me,” but her TV career was wide-ranging and lasted more than three decades. She starred as Della Street in the 1973 Perry Mason reboot, “The New Perry Mason,” and had a prominent guest role in “The Mark of Gideon,” a 1969 episode of “Star Trek,” in which she played Odona, whose planet was desperately overcrowded. Acker regularly appeared on the short-lived soap opera “Texas,” as well as played recurring soap opera roles on “Days of Our Lives” and “The Young and the Restless.” Her many TV guest appearances included “Love, American Style,” “The Mod Squad,” “The Rockford Files,” “Trapper John, M.D.,” and “Murder, She Wrote.”
