Internationally known for co-hosting the 2002 FIFA World Cup, Seoul’s very own World Cup Stadium, located in the western part of Seoul, is a terrific facility with a capacity of over 66,000 seats. Opened just a year before the World Cup in 2001, the stadium was designed to resemble both a traditional Korean kite and shield, which symbolize flight to victory. After the World Cup, the stadium gained new popularity as the home of the city’s football team, Seoul FC. Sports fans will enjoy visiting the stadium as they will be able to experience a fantastic game atmosphere with tickets at reasonable prices. The stadium’s impressive list of facilities also includes a supermarket, movie theatre, gym, museum as well as wedding and banquet facilities. Accessible from: World Cup Stadium Station (Line 6), Exit 1 or 2.
