      Season 1 – Sense8

      2015 Drama Sci-Fi List
73% Tomatometer 66 Reviews 90% Audience Score 2,500+ Ratings Eight strangers around the globe find themselves connected -- first by a violent vision, then by their shared ability to connect with one another's thoughts and actions, and finally by the urgent need to find out what happened and why. Their need to know goes beyond simple curiosity -- as they pursue answers, a mysterious organization hunts them down, intent on destroying them. The intense thriller is the first foray into television (or, more accurately, Netflix) for renowned filmmakers Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski ("The Matrix Reloaded"), who created the series with J. Michael Straczynski ("Thor"). The international cast includes veteran actors known to U.S. audiences, like Daryl Hannah ("Kill Bill") and Naveen Andrews ("Lost"), and others well-known in their home countries, like German actor Max Riemelt and Doona Bae of South Korea. In keeping with the global premise of the series, shooting takes place all over the world, including London, Reykjavik, Nairobi and Mumbai. Read More Read Less Watch on Netflix Stream Now

Some of the scenarios border on illogical, but the diverse characters and the creative intersections between their stories keep the Wachowskis' Sense8 compelling.

Nikita G Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes. Brilliant show in every sense. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/18/24 Full Review Lesterberne T Not very good. The character moments are interesting but they don't use the medium they create to do anything interesting. It's just a drama show with a lot of nudity / sexual / fan service scenes with extra steps. The plot armor is astronomic. It's pretty dragged out and thinks it's smarter than it actually is. I will not be watching season 2. They even replaced an actor just because he wasn't comfortable with all the sex scenes they added for his character (he had like none in season 1, he looks far younger than the rest of the cast). This just tells me everything I need to know. Don't waste your time. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/24 Full Review M O I absolutely loved this programme, I can't believe I only discovered it last month. I found the first two episodes hard going but after that, wow. It's amazing how attached to the characters and their stories you get. My favourite characters were Sun and Wolfgang, favourite couple Kala and Wolfgang (wonderful chemistry). Sadly the show was cancelled by Netflix due to cost yet they throw money at people with no talent. It's a shame Amazon didn't take over the production. I would say stick with it and you will discover why so many people loved it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/03/23 Full Review gr. u phenomal series! makes you tear up and laugh and cry and fills your heart with all the emotions it can produce Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review Yas S É tão nítido o quanto Lana e Lilly Wachowski se sentiram confortáveis em fazer essa serie que deu um nó na minha cabeça e me entreteve do início ao fim. A história é incrível, os personagens são cativantes os atores são maravilhosos. O roteiro de Sense8 tinha tudo para dar errado, eu apenas agradeço eternamente por dar certo. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/24/23 Full Review John S Damn the lazy uptight critics again for dumping on Sense8. It was sheer genius and their snobbery led to it being cancelled. Sense8 was a remarkable exploration of the limits and potential of human empathy, expressed in an astonishing number of emotionally charged permutations and manifestations, from polymorphic sexuality to global interculturality to the telempathic fusions between complete strangers that are at the heart of the very cool plot. It looks great, feels better and sounds very cool too. It's a sort of tantric meditation on human frailty and embodied cosmic unity squirted through a stylish super-charged ultra-hip action filter. Plus it roars with graphic polysexuality, which is in itself quite a challenge to most viewers to extend their own empathetic abilities beyond TVs traditional comfort zones. One could argue it's also an allegory about the internet, and I think that is probably true, but only to a point, since it is ultimately a fabulously non-zombiefied take on post-human being. I know this will sound hyperbolic, but I am convinced that Sense8 is not only one of the best TV shows ever made, but also one of the most fully realized and revolutionary artistic statements of this young millennium. I think it should be shown in schools and jails and houses of parliament everywhere. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
