What travelers are saying
- Amigo1111Pine City, MN89 contributionsYou can read about it and know about it - but until you walk across it’s hard to absorb the gravity of racism and the heroes that keep arriving.Written May 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marlene S42 contributionsThis is an interesting museum because it tells the stories of the 'foot soldiers' of the civil rights movement - those folks that walked behind the leaders, that did the day to day hard work in order to gain their civil rights. It weaves those stories into the historical figures and events most of us know. The displays preserve the story of Selma's place in civil rights history as well as portraying the larger civil rights movement. A good place to spend some time.Written January 28, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ken TGlen Oaks, NY902 contributionsI wanted to see Brown Chapel A.M.E Church first hand when I visited Selma. This is where the meetings took place for equal voting rights. Today it is a National Historic Landmark.Written January 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dewayne PElizabethtown, KY1,877 contributionsThis is one of the most spectacular cemeteries I have seen in Alabama. - SydneySaint Louis, MO212 contributionsIf you have the time, it is absolutely worth driving from Selma to Montgomery to follow the March to Montgomery path. Selma is a bit run down, so you won't need to spend a ton of time there, but there are several places worth visiting at least once, especially the Edmund Pettus Bridge. The drive takes about an hour total, and there are tons of civil rights tour stops in Montgomery to check out.Written March 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
