What songs did you listen to the most after the break up?

I’ve used music to cope with this breakup more than I can even say.

There was a point where I listened to “Losin Control, Pt. 2” every single day for at least three months straight.

I’ve also screamed “Figures” by Jessie Reyes and “I Wish I Never Met You” by Domo Wilson at the top of my lungs. I’ve sobbed hysterically while listening to Taylor Swift’s version of “All Too Well” and more recently I like to listen to “Angels Like You” by Miley Cyrus

What songs have you guys listened to the most during your breakup?

Yesterday by the Beatles

Jann Arden’s Insensitive got me through the initial weeks of the shock of the end of the LDR.

It (the email saying I was being dumped) came out of left field and was completely unexpected.

In hindsight (almost a quarter century later), it was the best thing he could have ever done for me. I avoided a marriage that would have ended in divorce; got to a 💩ton of travelling (I’m a travel junkie, so I <3 travelling); lived/worked in the Caribbean for a few years; met my husband, moved countries (🇨🇦 to 🇬🇧) and got married and eventually had my daughter (8)…. I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this if I hadn’t been dumped.

Edited

Oh, and Blu Cantrell’s Hit ‘Em Up Style (Oops!) helped a lot too (I found out decades later that I wasn’t dumped because he cheated but because of the distance between us and the fact that he wasn’t man enough to discuss 💩 with me that would affect our future that was stressing him out, so he took the coward’s way out and got rid of me instead of telling me the truth).

Anyway, when I was on the plane to Australia (I was in the final weeks of a community college course that was meant to get me a good paying job when the 💩 hit the fan and was lucky enough to get hired for a job, so I worked hard and saved up some $$$ to go travelling to get over my broken heart as soon as I was able), this song was playing on the in flight entertainment system and I listened to it lots of times.

10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU BY LEAH KATE AND SCREAM IT ALL OUT. THEN ABCDEFU BY GAYLE

Said it all by Take that. I played it for 20 hours nonstop whole on repeat.

During the period of silence before the breakup, I mostly listened to Shinedown, Till Lindemann/Rammstein (absolute favorite artist/band). After the breakup, I discovered Jelly Roll, Struggle Jennings, and Caitlynne Curtis. Additionally, I've been listening to more country music.

u/Restless_Fillmore avatar

I can no longer listen to music.  We spent so much of our time together going to hear bands or listen to music.

I've lost my favourite music as well as the desire to hear any at all.

Try finding new bands and new songs, keeps my mind busy and I’m not hearing songs that have memories tied to them.

Meant to also say, we were a huge music couple too so I can relate.

u/Restless_Fillmore avatar

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I've tried, but the association with music itself is too strong.

Ahhh got it. Hugs friend

  1. Outside by Zayn

  2. Fingers by Zayn

  3. Get you out of my heart - Nikki Flores

  4. Erase you - Nikki Flores

  5. Could you ever love me that way - Nikki Flores

  6. Hard to Breath - Nikki Flores

  7. Falling - Harry Styles

I have a whole playlist of songs all related to breakups even before my relationship even existed… and then after it happened and we broke up those same songs hit me even harder 😞

You’ll be okay☺️🥺 if not now then at some point. Remember never put a timestamp on healing. Take your time, everything happens for a reason and one day (even if it’s hard to wait) you’ll see why things happened the way they did. I wish you the best x

u/Ambitious-Finish8970 avatar

This song never fully released, but man. Feel like he described my situation and feelings perfectly. Hard to cope with knowing nothing was real, I was just used to get over someone she eventually went back to. She called me from his house to “just let me know” they just had sex and are getting back together. Broke me. That was 4 days ago.

Juice Wrld - Push me away https://youtu.be/-lH6Tx_3nv8?si=E9qiyTqozGpg4NM5
