SNOWFALL AND SECRETS: LUKAS is a standalone read with a happy ending. It is set in the wintertime on Lake Michigan. There is cold, snow, cold and more cold. Makes me glad I live in Florida. However, the people that live on their small island love it so something for everyone. Lukas runs a factory that makes fudge and ships it out all over the country. His family does quite well. They have a big house with a carriage house that he rents out or loans to friends that visit the island. He is divorced and he has secrets that have scared his soul. He carries a lot of guilt.
Tess is a teacher from Miami, Florida that needs to get as far from Miami as possible. When a job advertises for a 3-4th grade teacher she immediately applies and gets the job. Not many want to live on this island during the winter. The lake freezes over, no tourist, a fairly isolated lifestyle. But, she is determined to make the best of it. Tess has secrets as well. Her mother is rather non-forgiving and Tess is tired of feeling like a failure in her mother's eyes.
This is an entertaining as well as interesting read. I had no idea all of the stuff that goes on in the winter around Lake Michigan is real. Makes one happy to be in sunny Florida. Tess has not told a living soul her secret but knows it won't be long before others find out. She will deal with that when the time comes. Lukas is her landlord as the school has arranged for her to stay in the carriage house on his property. It is certainly a different way of life for her and she is surprised at how caring and friendly all the people are. It is a good read and I really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend it.
