Lore: Basically, what if the Republican Party and Lincoln were socialist? The idea of Marxism-Lincolnism is not mine, I've seen it float around this sub for a few weeks, so credit to whoever came up with the idea.
In this timeline, the Workers' Party (formerly known as the Republican Party) was founded as an anti-slavery party just like in our timeline. However, after the Civil War they embraced socialism and Marxism-Lincolism, and it drastically affected the evolution of the two-party system.
I really wonder how unironic Williamson supporters exist. Because, if theyâre on the left, they should at least see the similarities between her and the wackadoodles that they justly attack on the right. The difference between wacky evangelicals and wacky spiritual gurus is minimal, regardless of whether theyâre an (R) or a (D).
because there was a left wing candidate with an impeccable personal records, a decent legislative record, and while populist, he clearly was not a radical or "crazy", and the response of the democrats was to greyrock their own base, and pretty much openly rig their own primaries, while claiming that they "had the right to do it" in court.
At this point why not just vote for Screaming Lord Sutch. We ain't gonna change shit without an actually coordinated grassroots movement.
I couldn't believe she was on the debate stage. I'm used to there being candidates more to the left or to the right than I am vying for the nomination, but I can't recall another time when a woke Michelle Bachmann was being treated like an actual candidate for president.
Andrew Yang and Bernie Sanders never got treated as kindly as she has been by the mainstream left of center press, and they were both respectable, serious candidates.
Michelle Bachmann is literally just a conspiracy theorist, and she used to be a rare breed, it really is a shame how far the Republican Party and mainstream politics in general have fallen.
I remember when i used to say fuck it marianne williamson for pres, as a joke....but honest to god, the fact that she looks good now doesn't make me wanna vote for her, it just makes me sad.
Being caught between actual Marxists and right wing authoritarians like DeSantis sounds horrible. Iâd vote for Romney in a heartbeat if these were the candidates.
Williamson has done some good things for charity, but overall sheâs undeniably a crackpot and a grifter, not the kind of person who needs the keys of power.
She was born in the US and is over the age of 35. Those are the only necessary qualifications. Itâs not a very important job anyway. Most big-city mayors have more power over the real issues that impact peopleâs lives. People gotta stop obsessing over national politics and get local.
Those are not the only necessary qualifications. While of course I agree that local politics are vastly undervalued, and far more relevant to every day living conditions than most are aware, that does not mean that the American presidency is not a very important job. The American president commands the largest military force on the planet, and a nuclear arsenal. They are the largest celebrity personality in the country, and their influence can span generations just through their rhetoric and conduct alone, not even getting into judicial appointments. Finally, they are the head of an increasingly imperial federal bureaucracy, itâs been this way since the New Deal.
If the presidency doesnât matter, how is this the good ending? Why wouldnât the good ending be DeSantis winning the election? Why would it matter in that case?
In the early 60s, Presidents Kennedy and Johnson were the handlers and pushers of civil rights legislation, now imagine if Barry Goldwater had been the resident of the White House or God forbid, George Wallace. The presidency matters, presidential elections matter, qualifications matter. Youâd think weâd learn this lesson after 4 years of Trump, and 2 years of Biden.
I think a lot of people misunderstand Marianne Williamsonâs politics. She talks about FDR and stuff a lot, but her actual politics, beyond the rhetoric, are about localizing politics through direct democracy and social justice. Sheâs not some social democrat whoâs going to revive the New Deal, her politics are fundamentally libertarian and opposed to the power of the federal government.
Iâm under no misbelief that sheâll actually win irl, but all of those things that the President does have power over: the military, the nuclear arsenal, the âcelebrityâ, whatâs left of the New Deal, etc., donât have any significant positive influence over the lives of hundreds of millions of people in the US. The military is a massive tumor on the federal budget, the nuclear arsenal is potentially the most destructive force in human history, the âcelebrityâ of the President is just a personality cult, and the New Deal bureaucracy barely helps anyone anymore.
Real positive change can only be at the local/regional level anymore. The Federal government is simply too compromised. A hypothetical Williamson Presidency, would be more amenable to municipalities and cities claiming more autonomy for themselves, so that real social and ecological justice could grow.
Municipality rights arenât really grown and fostered at the federal level though, and states reserve a lot of freedom in restricting the activities of cities. Some states, like Texas and Florida, actively pre-empt cities on a lot of policy and regulatory matters. This is not something that will change on the federal level, regardless of who is president⌠and itâs likely the Supreme Court would consider these matters an issue of the 10th Amendment if Congress tried to intervene.
DeSantis uses her Marxist ties to attach Marianne to Russia's actions in Ukraine. Despite the irony, it works and DeSantis rides a wave of angry populism to win the election 60/40.
Too bad weeks before the election dethsantis suffered that stroke then died; he may have been a decent leader, like when he took care of us during the pandemic
BTW, that's mostly mitt's fam (6 wives, 47 kids, 162 gd) that voted for him. Not too much else left after the govt took down deznat and nuked SLC.
DeSantis winning Massachusetts is so cursed I hate it
i came here to comment specifically because of him winning massachusetts
Marx wanted to move to Texas when he was young
So even in this "good" timeline the US still has the electoral college wow
Was gonna say

What is Marxism-Lincolism?
DemSoc I think.
Southern victory?đ¤¨
The cursed timeline for sure.
Absolutely nothing about this is âthe good timeline.â
Williamson derangement syndrome
Yes,obviously i must admit that it is my case.
Based
Oh my God , I'd rather die than have that nutty lady as president

Williamson is a joke.
Michelle Bachmann is literally just a conspiracy theorist, and she used to be a rare breed, it really is a shame how far the Republican Party and mainstream politics in general have fallen.
There are few liberals or conservatives left in American politics. The bulk, at least those given any attention, are populists or reactionaries.
I remember when i used to say fuck it marianne williamson for pres, as a joke....but honest to god, the fact that she looks good now doesn't make me wanna vote for her, it just makes me sad.
In what way does she look good
At this point I don't think she could fuck up more than any of the other "electable" or "viable" candidates.
Who is she and why is she bad?
âââgoodâââ
Being caught between actual Marxists and right wing authoritarians like DeSantis sounds horrible. Iâd vote for Romney in a heartbeat if these were the candidates.
Williamson isnât the crazy person you think she is, most of these commits sound all too similar to the garbage made on mainstream media.
scary result
I challenge everyone who disagrees to explain Williamsonâs qualifications to the Presidency.
She won't perpetuate the same broken system that led us to where we are now.

For all those speaking about how bad Marxism is: imagine that Marxist-Lincolnism is just as Marxist as Marxist-Leninism (which isnât very Marxist)
Marxism-Leninism is Marxism. What are you talking about
Marxist-Leninism is tankie shit, Marx would be rolling in his grave if he knew thatâs what people considered his ideology to be
no he wouldn't lol. his biggest concern would just be that un-industrialized nations tried socialism before industrialized capitalist nations
You have no idea what youre talking about lol
Well, Marxists in general don't hero worship so they don't care about Marx's feelings.
Blessed America
smh every âgood timelineâ on reddit boils down to leftie wish fulfilment, lol
Fuck marxism
Explain what Marxism is
Communism
Explain what Communism is
An idea created by Karl Marx to put the workers in charge of the state, however, in reality, it really just sets the stage for dictators.
The good ending âşď¸
DeSantis uses her Marxist ties to attach Marianne to Russia's actions in Ukraine. Despite the irony, it works and DeSantis rides a wave of angry populism to win the election 60/40.
This is the way it would happen
Russia isn't Marxist.
Despite the irony in my comment as well, apparently
I know that, most voters probably wouldn't
Too bad weeks before the election dethsantis suffered that stroke then died; he may have been a decent leader, like when he took care of us during the pandemic

Foaming, spitting rage
This isn't a good timeline; Marxism took power in America, that's the very definition of hell
Democratic ron desantis is the most cursed thing i ever seen
