Nottingham Forest and Scotland centre-back Scott McKenna has joined FC Copenhagen on loan until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old, who signed from Aberdeen in September 2020, has made only six appearances for the Reds this season.

McKenna's contract at the City Ground expires in the summer.

"I see it as a really good opportunity for me," McKenna told the Danish club's website.

"FC Copenhagen are an internationally respected club who play for the titles every season, and who have done fantastically well on the international stage.

"I'm really looking forward to meeting the team and joining the training camp, which is a perfect starting point for me in terms of getting into the group quickly. I will do my utmost to ensure that the title comes back to Copenhagen again."

McKenna, who has 33 caps, will aim to play regularly to push for a place in the Scotland squad for this summer's European Championship in Germany.

Copenhagen are third in the Danish top flight and face Manchester City in the last 16 of the Champions League.
