Address
Neighborhood: Yaletown & False Creek North
Yaletown has risen from the ashes of its rough-and-tumble industrial past into one of Vancouver's new chicest neighbourhoods. The place responsible for originating of the phrase 'skid row' might not call to mind independently-owned boutiques and terraced cafes, but having swallowed the waterfront lines of False Creek North, the resulting amalgamation transformed the area into an elegant, stylish hotspot with a view. Its youthful vibe owes to the many young families and young professionals who live there, bolstering nightlife and restaurant variety along its cobbled streets. It is the flagship neighbourhood for modern revitalization, and the It-Spot for boutique hotels and modish eats.

We went and quickly realised this isn’t for older kids / adults. It’s not near anything else and, whilst we enjoyed some of the less hands on exhibits, probably not worth travelling to as a destination in itself.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten July 6, 2023
- Robert D2,747 contributionsNew use for Expo CentreI enjoyed my visit to Science World. It was nice to see the Expo '86 grounds put to good use. They had a temporary exhibit "Challenging the Deep" about Canadian James Cameron's deep underwater explorations. That exhibit featured both artifacts as well as short films about his exploration. (It was especially poignant as I viewed the exhibit shortly after the submersible disaster in which five people lost their lives exploring the remains of the Titanic.) Most of the permanent exhibits are hands on. These exhibits and the live science demonstrations are aimed at a younger audience. But adults can find things to explore as well.Visited June 2023Traveled soloWritten July 20, 2023

- Patty C7 contributionsExceptional serviceI go to science world in Vancouver at least once a week and I always have amazing service but today, I received exceptional service from Mila. My granddaughter lost her very precious bunny and the lost and found desk was closed. I was running around looking for it and Mila was in the beaver room and I asked her if anyone handed in a bunny and she said no. She told me about the lost and found Downstairs and I told her it was closed. She went out of her way to help me and she checked the list and found for me. We couldn’t find it but she was so amazing with me and my granddaughter. Thank you Mila for giving exceptional service. From a very impressed nana. The place is very comfortable inside with paid storage lockers to keep your belongings. Kids of age 8 & above can easily spend full day at this place. There are so many things to do and learn. There are somewhat very less activities for little children.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 16, 2024
- Jason Y6 contributionsGreat activities-Lunch Room was QuietWent with my family with two kids, 7 and 3. They had a blast. There were activities for both kids. I don’t think we saw everything within our 4-5 hours stay. There is a food for sale on the 2nd floor but nothing too health for the kids. We brought our own food and found a lunch room tucked away on the main floor. It was clean and quiet away from the main area. Overall, it was a great day.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 24, 2024
- Travel25346533585168 contributionsScience World ExcitementScience World has an interesting mix of science. There are many interesting exhibits. We visited with our young nephews and nieces and they really enjoyed it. It is obviously a small city exhibit. Enjoy it for what it is. A good rainy day attraction.Visited August 2023Traveled with familyWritten April 2, 2024

The first time we went to science world, we found it interesting, so when we saw that they had changed up themes. We decided to go check it out again. Not worth it. Pricey especially for a family and not that different. A few things broken. If you want to see the new display area, you have to pay more and nit really geared to kids. We tried to make a day of it, but kids were done after only a few hours. Will not be back

We had not intended on going here during our visit, but it was raining and we needed something to do with the kids (12 & 10). Parking is limited and you'll have to pay. Once inside, there are tons on activities for the kids, however I'd say that this place is meant for younger children. It's too childish for teenagers. All in all, a decent spot for a rainy day.

I was quite happy how they are operating during this pandemic. Although some exhibitions are closed, they remain opened most of the things kids usually enjoy.
It is not packed like before pandemic so kid can play longer without lining up.

We went as a family of five, me and my husband, my parents and my 3yr old son and we were all entertained and enjoyed Science World. Easy to get to via the ferries in the creek and reasonable entrance there were lots of different interactive things to do that everyone could get involved with. My son particularly enjoyed the water/ball activities and had great fun. I wish there was something like this back where I live as I would for sure get annual membership if I lived in Vancouver. Clean and spacious inside, we had a great afternoon playing.

Granted there were lots of fun things to do but many auditorium seats were not available due to covid or were just broke and in disrepair. The broken ines should be switched out for the covid ones. Some exhibits were also in disrepair. We however did enjoy having a dry harbor out of the rain. A bit expensive for what was offered in exhibition space.

Guest services is rude and unhelpful.
Staff is unaware of promotion that are advertised.
Staff in the toddler’s section are not controlling the flow of people going in and out, it was way overcrowded.
From a health and safety perspective this is unacceptable.
People was going in through the exit door and staff stood by and just watched.
It definitely seems that staff need to learn how to approach people and do a course on crowd management control.

This is a fun science museum for younger kids. I took my teen because it was cold and rainy and we wanted to be inside. Pretty much everything was hands on which was really nice. They had a little fast food area if you got hungry.

My son and I are coming to Vancouver for 1 night and wanted to go to Science World upon arriving to town. We will have small suitcases (the size you can bring on the plane). Is there an option for storing them while there?

Are you going to an exhibit there or are you going to just stroll the grounds? We did not attend an exhibit and jjust walked around. No problem with strollers.

If you needed to decide between Vancouver's and Seattle's science centre, which one would you recommend? Or are they totally different and both deserve a visit?

I would go see both. The Vancouver BC one was recently upgraded and there are tons of hands on things to do as well as demonstrations of scientific principles. It’s a great place to take inquisitive kids and their folks.
I was last at the Seattle science centre in 1984 at their exhibition of Chinese Arts & Science and it was truly amazing. Paper, silk, weaving, earthquake predictors, lions and tigers and bears, oh my. See both places.

Approximately how long does it take to go through Science World?
What I thought would be 2 hours at the aquarium yesterday turned into 5, so we want to be prepared today!! Haha

Depends on how much time you have Available. I was strapped for time and didn’t get to explore the whole place. There is lots to do and see. So 3-5 hrs is not unreasonable. There is also an outdoor play area.

The outside parking (just in front of the museum) is fine. A little expensive but really close .
